So NOW DL has low crowds.....

Today (Monday) is much much busier than Sunday, just like last week... it's very strange. Sunday was walk on for many rides and lots of space to spread out and enjoy the park. Today feels more like a normal day pre-pandemic, with significant lines for many rides. Wait times on the app are understated by 15-30 mins in our experience. Why are Mondays busier than Sundays two weeks in a row? Need some Disneyheads to figure that puzzle out!

I am really surprised to read this watching wait times today. They look nothing like pre-pandemic. 15 minutes for Space much of the day, 5 for many rides. 20 for Racers. That isn't even close to the nightmare that 90% of the pre-pandemic days were. I have a family member there that was there only a few weeks ago and says the crowds are fantastic compared to then. Webslingers still has boarding groups and Rise did until 11:30.

Maybe the absurd low levels from Sundays are giving you an altered idea of low crowds?

I am noticing odd patterns in line times. They seem to be jumping around more than usual.

I will be there tomorrow, so I will report my perception.

The wait times on the app are wildly inaccurate. Space this am reported 15 mins so we walked over there and it was a zoo with a 45 minute plus line and switchbacks in areas I've never even seen. Grizzly was showing 15 mins and I saw the huge line and asked them and they smiled and said oh yes that's accurate... 30 mins later we were on the ride. One of the kids is timing the waits (future Disboard member I'm sure) and informed the Big Thunder ride loader that the actual time was actually 15 mins more than the posted wait time... thank goodness he took it with a smile!! LOL

And yes it is possible that we are really noticing because yesterday was so light... and we expected today to be empty because of that and because schools are back in session.

Which park are you at? We’re at DL and it’s been empty! We are riding the train and it’s not even full!

Thanks, I look forward to your observations. We will be there next Sun-Tue (8/22 to 8/24) and am hoping crowds stay light through then. Recent observations will definitely help us know what to expect and plan our days. And if anyone else reports their observations in the coming days, thanks in advance!

I was already considering rescheduling my 8/28 and 8/29 reservations, and recent reports here and other places have swayed me. Will be using up the last two dates from my CA resident tickets this weekend instead of the following one. I figured the post-Magic Key dates would be busier anyway, and now with Legacy AP discounts no more too, hopefully these low crowds (even on the weekend) will hold for another week!

We must be in different areas of the park. We haven’t waited longer than 20 minutes for anything.

We started off in MK and then hopped to DCA at 1 pm. Soarin is at 50 minutes (!) right now and my niece just walked by and described the area in front as "crazy busy".... both sides are running contrary to reports last week.

Don't get me wrong... the weather is wonderful and the parks are fabulous... but it's just not empty as we had predicted given Sunday's light crowds and the start of school.

I’m fascinated by this. We have friends who were here yesterday and are here today. We’ve bumped into them a couple of times and they keep telling us how we’re so lucky to be here today because it’s so much less busy than yesterday. I’ve been texting my husband about how empty DL is.

I am not discounting your experience at all! I am just always amazed at how much crowd perceptions can differ.

I'm in our hotel room right now and tempted to run outside and make a video LOL... I wonder if MK emptied out after the 1 pm park hop to DCA? It think most hoppers start off in MK in the am....?

I’ve been posting on social media all day about how empty it’s been. 😆

It really just does underscore how different crowd reports can be, even from people in the same park on the same day! We have walked on to so many rides.

We were at DL yesterday and it was unreal. The lack of crowds was so nice.

We’re planning to use the last say of our 3 day CA passes in Sept for our daughters birthday, but I am soooo tempted to move it to next weekend (we’re doing DCA for our last day).

I thought I would add out perspective from just outside the parks today. Just driving in the area was night and day from our early-July visit. The sidewalks seem practically empty compared to the packs of crowds around the parks then. The Disneyland Hotel seemed pretty busy at checkin yesterday. But, there were plenty of loungers around the pools empty until 11 when we left this morning, and I almost had the pool to myself at times. Last night, we were able to use the stand-by list to get into Trader Sam's with about an hour wait, after not being able to get reservations for weeks. Earl of Sandwich had zero line just before noon and Downtown Disney looked light.

Disney: Pay full retail, it's a PLEASURABLE experience and we get even more revenue.... announces Key BS.... This fall is gonna SUCK. Similar revenue but WAY worse experience. Ka-ching due to "attendance numbers" meaning nothing to anybody but the street.

I know that many of us are expecting things to go crazy once Magic Keys drop but I am holding on to a glimmer of hope that the low crowds may be driven more by kids returning to school and Delta. According to reports, boarding groups for Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios have not been filling up in the afternoon and they even opened it up in the evening to non-BG holders with it eventually becoming a walk-on towards closing. Flight of Passage had a posted wait time of 15 minutes on Saturday evening. If this effect is really due to Magic Keys, then maybe people who were thinking about visiting Disneyland using tickets after August 25 should change over to WDW instead. But I'm hoping the pent up demand has burned itself out.
