My parents are on vacation at WDW right now. I'm watching the house and my cats until they are back. Last night I decided to go to bed about 45 minutes later than usual because I wanted to watch some extra TV. :happytv: No problem, right? Boy, oh boy, was I wrong!

My cats, Gwen and Autumn, are very tiny. They are "teacup cats" which means they stay the size of an older kitten forever. Gwen weighs about three or four pounds and Autumn weighs six. They tend to chase each other when Gwen gets cranky, but I digress.

At 3:30 this morning, I heard the kitties chasing each other in my room. I tried to ignore it, but they were being very loud. I turned over to see a black cricket jumping up and down in the middle of the room. I grabbed a tissue to get it and turned on the light. As I turned around to squish the "bug," I realized that it was NOT a bug, but a MOUSE! :scared1::scared1::scared1: No, it wasn't Mickey, but a real live disgusting twitchy mouse!!! I screamed my head off and jumped on the bed.

Side note: Gwen is a very good mouse catcher and apparently caught the mouse downstairs in the laundry room. She wanted to bring it to me to show that she "did her job" and that is how this whole mess began. Anyway, back to me screaming on the bed (I'm honestly surprised that the neighbors didn't call the cops). :scared1:

The mouse continued to run around my room. Gwen caught a few times, but it refused to die. She'd lay it on the floor in front of my bed and look up at me, it'd roll on its side for a second, and then bolt for freedom. Autumn was playing back up and doesn't really like to catch mice. She swatted at it a few times, but let Gwen do the dirty work.

All of a sudden, I got this brilliant idea to get a pasta bowl and pot. I figured I could throw it on the beast (IT WAS HUGE lol) and then call one of my brothers or Sean to get rid of it. So here I am at 4 a.m. trying to throw a bowl and pot on a mouse admist two cats running a muck. After Gwen caught it for the sixth time, it ran under my bed. I yelled for her to catch it, but it somehow hid there. I didn't sleep the rest of the night...or so I thought...

I apparently dozed off on top of the bed holding the bowl. Autumn woke me up at 5 because she found the twitchy monster and cornered it by a stackable crate I have in my room. I yelled for Gwen and she came running up the steps to help. Below is a picture of the scene at this moment in our story. If you zoom in, you'll see Mr. Mouse.

After another half hour of freaking out, I decided to call Sean....twice. He refused to rescue me and said to just get dressed and go to work. I couldn't do that. I was worried that this creature was diseased and might bother my kitties. So what did I do? I called my brother. My sister in law answered and was absolutely NO HELP (big shocker there  ). She did say that they'd stop over at some point during the day.

After I walked back upstairs from making this phone call, I noticed that the girls weren't where I left them. Autumn gave me this confused look from the top of the steps and Gwenny was drinking her water. I asked her where the mouse was (yes, we talk frequently and no, it isn't the meds lol) and she gave me this look that totally said, "I took care of it."

Yup, you guessed it. She swallowed it! :scared1: From what I can gather, she got annoyed and ate the little bugger. They have not been searching for it since. I've been worried all day that she would get sick from it, but I remember her doing this once before without a problem.

So here I sit running completely on auto-pilot after four hours of sleep. Hopefully tonight will be a better night. :cloud9:

:) :) I can just picture this happening. One of our cats brought a small snake into the house for us. My daughter was trying to get it with a bowl and a pair of tongs.

I'd be peeing my pants, Kathy! Usually this is Dad's department, but here I sit fighting vermin while they run around Magic Kingdom!

It's a mouse. They're cats. What on earth did you think YOU needed rescuing from??? LOL!

I didn't know what to do with it! I freaked the last time one was dead on the steps. I thought cats just kill or catch 'em, not eat 'em!

I'm so glad i have never seen a mouse outside a petstore or being fed to a snake after being bought from a pet store.

Yikes... I have no idea what I would do if I woke up looking for a mouse..

We ahd a huge mouse problem once, I clearly remember my boys as young ones chasing a mouse with a pot and pan. I do laugh about it now :)

After weeks of research and trying everything to get rid of them I read that month balls would solve the problem.. Just sprinkle them behind appliances, deal with smell for a few days and no more mice. Guess what, it worked. We never saw another mouse.

You may want to try this so you can get a good nights sleep ;)

I must say you handled it better than I probably would have. But then again I wouldn't have cats and then would have to deal with the rodent by myself. Hmmm- maybe cats aren't so bad after all.

We had a mouse in our house once. It was hiding in my daughter's room. The funny part was we had a rat at the time, so the mouse had plenty of food. When we found it, we started to empty all the stuff out of the room. Couldn't find it. We put down some glue traps and went to bed. The next day I check the traps and there's the mouse, stuck to the glue. I start hitting it with an umbrella while screaming for DH. He comes in and smashes it with a metal cinder shovel from the wood stove. I was surprised we didn't have mouse guts all over the wall. LOL

:rotfl:yuck Nikki- i would have done the same thing- freaked and hid on the bed and called for help! sorry help didn't come. and gross on eating it, but i guess that is what pets do sometimes. my sister's dog used to bring dead rabbits to the back porch for her as a 'gift'. ah, love for their owner! and lol at talking to the cats, i do the same wtih my dogs- we have our own language!

hope tomorrow goes better!

We have two cats and one is a better mouser then the other. I have had to catch a mouse in the kitchen before...we used tongs to grab it and fling it out into the yard. NOW...anytime we need tongs...we call them mouse catchers.

"can you grab the mouse catchers? Can you pass me the mouse catchers??" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It's not just cats that can catch mice.

I didn't even know we had a mouse in our house until I found a headless body in my hamster cage :scared1: Never found the head :confused3

We're you training a mini H-force? (kinda like the guinea pigs in G Force)

So does this mean you will make Spaghetti and MOUSEballs for lunch on Saturday???

:rotfl: if only I'd thought of that
I did have a few pets at that time too, 2 hammies and 2 mice (I knew about these mice :thumbsup2 - but they don't smell good :scared:)

I still have my rotastack set (purchased after the one in the cage died - it didn't die from eating a mouses head BTW) and I really want a pet now, this could be my new years project - H-Force UK :thumbsup2
