So just months after they began to tear down the much-loved Kong ride, the Studio announces a mega-budget Kong feature to be put into production with Peter Jackson at the helm. Is this crazy or is it just me? Closing Kong and updating him in conjunction with the new film would have been a lot more appropriate, and a lot more welcome.

Kong is a classic. The awful Mummy movies will, thankfully, just be a bad memory in a few years. How long will it be before our beloved park is awash with new, throwaway popcorn fodder centric attractions as the classics are swept away?

Who says they can't add or take away down the road?
Have a little faith in the warm body/bean counters. That's ultimately how ride & attractions' fates are determined.

So the 1999 Mummy remake, and it's 2001 sequel, are forgetable, but the 1976 King Kong remake (and it's 1986 sequel), which was what the ride was based on, is a classic!?

What are classics are the characters, and the orginal movies they were featured in (1932 Mummy, 1933 King Kong). Years down the road, when people have forgotten the Brendan Frasier Mummy movies, (much like people forgot the Jeff Bridges' King Kong), the ride will represent the orginal Mummy character, which everybody will remember.

On a side note, I hope this Kong remake by Peter Jackson won't be forgetable.
