I want to know-- is it really worth it? It sure sounds neat, and so much fun, I really want to go....but holy cow... can I afford it and will the twin girls who just turned 10 enjoy it? Or is it more geared for smaller kids? I am sure they would love it at about age 6 or 7.
Other questions
What was your total for four people to go for the cheapest cruise?

and what is the best website to find out information on the cruise in general? I mean prices and stuff, and what all the cruise offers? ETC
What am I getting by going on the cruise that I can't get for a lot less in the parks? Please don't be ticked off at me- I am really wondering your opinion on this. I really don't know.

Why be ticked off at you - you questions are very valid.

first off - Welcome to the Cruise Board.

Is the cruise worth it. yes. I my opinion it is the best vacation we have ever taken.

Will your 10 year olds enjoy it - I only have the reccomendation of my 7 year old - who is dieing to go back. But others with pre-teens have indicated that thier kids had a great time.

If you want a sample price - I reccommend the "get a quote" section of the DCL website. Most Travel Agents are going to quote you a very similar price.

As for Price - which cruise are you thinking of 3 night, 4 night or 7 night. Fall is usually the cheapest to cruise, followed by January

There are a couple of members here that host Disney Cruise websites. You may want to check out Inkognito's at www.disneycruiser.com or even Dave from Marrietta's (can't remember the link but it is in his signature). DCL's official website is also pretty good.

As for the cruise - what can it offer you - for me it is Relaxation. at the parks it is run run run. On the ship, there is no worries. It is Hakuna Matata at its best. Plus the parks can't take you to the tropical islands.

We are counting days to #4 and are thinking ahead to #5. We are older (50s) adults with no at home children and we love it. If you like being pampered and having your every whim attended to book your cruise. You can book now for next year, pay a small amount down and put up a little each month until payment is due. That's the American way.
Try the 4 day and if you like it book the 7 day.

We have cruised on Disney 3 times and have a 4th booked for October. We love cruising. We think it is well worth the money. All meals included in price, entertainment, exciting port's of call. We have booked a Catagory 12 twice and loved the room. Cruise off-season and book cheapest catagory if you are on a budget. You still get all the same ammenities, and are treated great.

We went last December, I added it to our 2 week WDW vacation. I have 3 girls 12, 10, 6 and they loved our trip but the highlight was the cruise. They and We loved it we really want to take another cruise now. My husband was a little unsure, but we are glad that I went with my instincts. My kids have written alot about the cruise in their school assignments and they never want to spend any of their money because they are saving for another cruise. My 6 yr old had to write what she would do with $100 and she said "Save it for another cruise" They loved it!
I booked to Cat 10 rooms and it was great. We were hardly ever in our rooms... but there was plenty of room for us. I did not want to pay more for a room that we would hardly ever be in. Instead, I spent our $ on swimming with the dolphins....and parasailing....and snorkeling. It was the vacation of a lifetime that I would like to repeat in a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO! You will not regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing to consider is that all your meals are included. And this won't be like eating at counter service in the parks!

They have some really good rates for September. Summers and pretty much anytime your children are out of school will be much more $$.

As for the 10 yo girls, my neice turned 11 the day before we set sail on a 3 day cruise. She had such a great time she told her parents she would rather do another cruise than to go to Disney World again. Her then 7 yo sister felt the same way.

If you want good pictures of the boat, then check these out ... http://www.mytravelco.com/cruises/cruiseship/360/cruiselines.asp?brand=&SN=815

They are 360 degree pictures of quite a few areas of the ship. Very nice. This is my first cruise(5/11), and I definately think it will be worth it, but then I also got a really good price. I am a Florida Resident and got a REALLY cheap rate (If you know anyone in Florida, invite them along for the cruise, and you can get the cheap rate as well)

I agree with Robin...without any discounts, fall is the best time to go, but you have to pull your kids out of school. That is your decision to make. If you want to get prices from other than disney, try www.cruise.com and www.expedia.com. The both offer pretty good pricing on Disney ships.

Hope this info helps.

First, it's totally different going on a cruise than going to the parks, it can't even be compared. When you go to WDW, part of it is going on rides, walking around endlessly, standing in lines, walking around endlessly. The cruise is all about relaxing and picking and choosing what things you'd like to do. The nice part is the kids club option.

I think older kids have a better time - more freedom and other kids to socialize with. You don't have to be together 24 hours a day.

Only you can decide if it's worth the cost. We were booked for the four day and my husband pushed me until we changed to the seven day. It was a good decision.

i want that any age will have fun and it definetely isnt just for little kids. i was in the teen section and i even had an awesome time so any age can have fun. they would have a blast!! also, this cruise is definetly worth all the money!! if you are looking for any cruise not just disney go to www.cruises411.com it tells you alot. any other questions ask!!!!!!:smooth:

I know the "Sticker Shock" of a cruise can be hard to take at first, but it's worth every penny. Remember, your price includes food, entertainment, and your cabin. You really don't have to spend much more if you don't want to. We used mytravelco.com for our 3 cruises and found them great to work with and they always beat any other quotes. If you have a Disney Club card you can get a $50 ship credit. Once again, it seems like a lot to spend when you are first considering cruising, but go once and you'll see why so many of us are hooked and count the days until we can go again!!!:)
