Each of our family members have a lot of magic bands. We are coming back to Disney in December, and thinking about just declining the new bands. Any reason to get new ones?

A little more info...
We are activating new annual passes (we have had annual passes before, but we let them expire)
We are staying on property, a split stay (one night at Coronado, three at AoA)

Thank you!

As MBs age, their internal batteries will die.
Although many important "touch-point" functions of MBs (like park entry and FP entry) will continue to work without those batteries, if the batteries are dead, some of the "special functions" (like automatic linking of on-ride photos and videos) will not work.
Expect MB's batteries to last 2-3 years (sometimes longer, but not reliably.)

If you've started a Sorcerer game in MK on a MB, it won't carry over to a different MB.

By 'old' MB, how old are you talkin' here? There was a design change a few years back. Do you know if yours is the old or new design? That might sway my decision. I just like to collect different colors. But, I'm not always in a hurry to pick them up (when at front desk & not shipped to me) & found they remove them from front desk if not picked up within 24 hours.

Disney includes so very little perks for staying $$$$$ on site, why turn one down really?

ETA: with AP you'll get an AP moniker to add your MB to identify you as AP, it can be moved to any MB.

We think they are a neat souvenir. We have 3-4 each so we don't have a ton but we take all of them and wear different ones during our vacation.

Yessss! My Fiancee is an art teacher and she is going to design some piece of art for ours and yet leave them removable so we can take them when we go again in 2021. Great idea.

It can make a good souvenir / piece of nostalgia. Every now and then I look at my magic bands and try to remember each trip. I'll admit it's easier with the ones that have designs compared to the grey or blue. :-)

I am all for recycling band, as I have dozens of them now.
Last ones are from 2015.

I am doing a solo trip in Feb to HS, and with all the hoopla about GE I want to be SURE they will work with the boarding pass, tickets and FP.

Has this info actually been confirmed by WDW or is it just anecdotal?

Old ones don't seem to work as well...I've tried recycling rather than ordering new ones and on both occasions I needed to go to front desk and deal with other syncing issues!

I always get a new one when entitled to it (resort stay or AP renewal). I just deactivate older ones, to only have maybe a half dozen active at the most.

I have not seen the option to decline bands on our last few resort stays.

I wish there was a way to permanently remove some from your MDE account. We too have a ton of magicbands (and old room cards that still show up) and make sure to inactivate most of them (keeping only the few we use active). But we’ve begun to run into issues occasionally when trying to get into our rooms, it can take 5+ taps on the sensor for the lock to click open because the system is going through so many of our bands.
