So many different reviews on Whispering Canon can't decide to go or not?

I keep reading either very positive or very negative reviews on Whispering Canon. We are traveling with 5 kids under 10 and want a restaurant that is fun and food ok. We are not looking for gourmet food just something that would please the little ones. I thought this place would work? We aren't picky people and our goal is to just have fun. Of course, we don't want horrible food...any advice?

Don't listen to them. You will get many negative reviews from every restaurant everywhere. The only way to know is to try for yourself.

After hearing many negative reviews about Les Chefs de France and Coral Reef last year we decided to go anyway and LOVED them both.

Please go and enjoy. Your kids will LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I've been one to give a negative review on this place based on service, but food quality is fine, and the servers are there to have fun--especially with the kids. I've dined there many times, for all meals, and it's uniformly a place I'd recommend highly for large families.

exactly! We heard so many bad things about Tony's but tried it anyway, it's now my moms favorite place to eat, we all thought it was really good and can't wait to go back.

as for WCC, we LOVE it there! last August we went with a large group, with 4 kids, 11, 10, 9, and 6 and they all loved it too. They had so much fun, our waitress was the BEST!! I just wish I could remember her name, so we could request her in June.

We all loved the food, and remember, you don't have to order the skillet, you can order from a full menu of other choices:thumbsup2

I'd also recommend it! We've always enjoyed our meals here! The pulled pork sandwich is one of my favorites! Go and enjoy! It is a fun place - the kids will enjoy the pony races!

I've come to the conclusion you have to try it for yourself! We tried almost all new places our last trip, some with good reviews, some mixed, and some of the ones people seem to love didn't do it for us, and others were beyond expectations.

We've been to Whispering Canyon three times and always had a good experience. Especially with younger kids, it's a really fun place for them, so go and enjoy!:goodvibes

I think WCC would be a great place for you to go. The food is decent/good - not gourmet, but it should satisfy everyone. WCC is also kid-friendly & your family should have a fun time, so definitely go & try it for yourself. BTW, there is a smores cheesecake dessert there that is almost worth going for in and of itself!

We are one of those who hated WCC and won't go back. But that being said, you ought to go and try for yourself and then if you don't like it, you don't have to go back. If I listened to every bad review we would never have tried Mama Melrose, Biergarten, Plaza and Yak & Yeti--and we love them all. We've also tried a few--WCC, H&V and Brown Derby--and we don't like any of them and won't go back.

It really comes down to personal taste, expectations and possibly an "off" night or a "good" night.

Go with what you want to do!

Just go, and if you don't like it, you won't ever have to go back.

We like it, and it's fun.

Glad this was posted cause I am feeling the same way, I had it planned but decided to take it off because of the negative reviews...

Think I will add it again and take a chance..:thumbsup2

I am glad that we tried it. The kids loved it and the only bad meal that was served for the six of us was some type of shrimp pasta that my DD's friend ordered. We had enough food on our table to share with her so it was no big deal. It was also worth going to just to see the lodge. It was beautiful!;)

This is a good point - when we went a few years ago for the 1st time, we looked around in amazement at the inside of WL as we waited to be seated.

We really did not have a good experience there are all. The food was mediocre at best, the service was nonexistent and the restaurant extremely LOUD. One of two restaurants i would never consider going to again (the other being Chef Mickey's).

I am one who also posted negative remarks about WCC. The food and service weren't horrible, just not as good as the other meals we had. We did order the skillet so it might be better to just order off the menu. Our server stated that she was very tired so that could explain the service issue. It wasn't bad service, just not great.

One thing I would suggest if you do go there, if you want to participate in the "activities" with the servers and other guests, make sure to request a table in the main dining area. We didn't know they had a small section in the back that was separated from the main area. We ended up being seated there and we could hear all the "fun" in the other room but couldn't see or participate in anything. We did ask for ketchup and straws but we missed everything else.

The kids did have a good time there so I wouldn't tell anyone not to try it but we will be skipping it this year. I might give it another chance one day but there are to many other places I want to try first.

We almost didn't try Planet Hollywood or Boatwrights because of all the bad reviews and they ended up being our favorite meals of the trip. :thumbsup2

I am one of the the people who keeps giving it bad reviews. Now that being said, if you think that your family will enjoy the food, I say go for it. About as many people like it as don't like it. You aren't going to know for sure unless you go.

Just wanted to add, if you are just going for the antics, don't go. They are very hit and miss. You may get a server who is very into it, or one that's not into it at all. We have also been seated in the "back" of the restaurant and not only was our server not into it, we could only hear what was going on "beyeond the wall".

Overall, you should try any restaurant you may have an interest in at least once.

For us...taste is subjective...service and quality are not. For us the food here (skillet) was very greasy and salty...interesting, since these are the two main ingredients food manufacturers use to 'improve' taste of bland food products (salt and fat). Service and entertainment (gags) are clearly hit and miss here which also account for mixed reviews.
