We've never been to WDW before and are going May 23 for 5 nights, so I know that I need to get our PS, (thanks to reading these boards!). My problem is there are too many chocies! It will be me, hd, ds17, ds4, dd6. I know we want to see Fantasmic. Should we do the dinner package? Would it be best? I'm pretty sure we want to eat at Chef Mickeys sometime. And think one night we'll do the Hoop Dee Do. And one night I may want to do Park Faire with dd so she can see Cinderella and the Prince. Does anyone know about that? Then I like Sci-Fi, Whispering Canyon, Crystal Palace, and O'hanas. I've heard a lot of raves about Boma. Is it a place for picky kids? Also, whats the Garden Grill like? Where is the ice creme social and who is there?
Ok, and keeping in mind picky kids, which places could you recommend for a first timer!
Is Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip anywhere?
Thanks so much!

Hi:wave2: and welcome to the DIS!!
Here is a link to all the menus which may help you decide
http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm
Crystal Palace is one of our favorites--we LOVE the breakfast buffet:hyper:
We had dinner at Chef Mickey's and really enjoyed it. We had dinner at the Garden Grill--it was also very good. The salad is especially yummy because they use the vegetables from the greenhouse there!! The ice cream social is offered in the afternoons at the Garden Grill and it features Mickey and friends - I am sure someone else can tell you which friends. We have also done the HDDR and thought it was hysterical:tongue: We also tried 'Ohana last year for the first time and really liked it!! Actually we haven't had a meal at WDW that we didn't enjoy. I have seen Princess Aurora over by the International Gateway in Epcot but she was alone. She is also at the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Epcot. I have not seen Prince Phillip anywhere. We are trying 1900 Park Fare in June for the first time and I am really looking forward to it.
You have lots of great suggestions--I think the hardest part of planning a Disney trip is trying to decide where to eat--there are just too many choices::yes::

Looks like you have some good choices already. We love the Crystal Palace for breakfast and Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun. Ohanas is a must do for us and the Sci-Fi we like for lunch better than dinner. 50's Prime Time for dinner is alot of fun if you like interaction with the server. Bomas is a excellent choice and they do have a childs selection. Check the link on mommysteig for the menu and that should be a big help.:cool1:

I LOVE to eat at Disney World - but as a first timer keep in mind that your days will be full without taking two two hour meals a day. Book one PS a day. Resort restaurants take even longer, because you don't step back out into a park. At the rate you are going, you'll never get to ride the attractions - you'll be too busy eating!!!!! (And that may not be all bad).

EXCITEDMOMMA, we'll be there during the same time and we have some PS to the places you mentioned, I hope to see you there!!!

I agree w/ CRISI, I love to eat at WDW too, I think planning and making PS is one of the best part of going to WDW.

We'll be going back to MGM for the Fantasmic show/dinner pkg. (We had a blast last time). I also made PS to try 1900 Park Fare for breakfast, Chef Mickey's was a little too much for us. Even w/ PS, we waited over 40 mins. and the food wasn't that good, so I'm hoping 1900 Park would be better. ::yes::

We have PS for the Ice Cream Social, it's at the Garden Grill inside of Epcot. I've never tried it, so I'm pretty psyched about it. I thought it was a cute idea, DH thinks I'm crazy...but  we'll have fun!

O'hana was great, I loved that place, DH wasn't too crazy about the food there though. The skewers of pork, turkey, beef and shrimp were ok, but the appitizer platter they give you in the begining...omg...I could just eat those appitizers and be in bliss. :teeth: (the view is great also, they sat us by the window and w/out realizing the time/schedule, the fireworks (not sure which one, there's so many names now!) came on and it lit up whole restuarant.

Sorry to ramble...I hope this helps. Planning PS is one of the best parts, the other is trying the yummy foods! ;)

ENJOY!!!

Just to expand on what someone else mentioned... We have found that having more than one PS type (sit down) meal in a day is usually way too much food. The exception would be doing breakfast early and a late dinner, maybe having a snack in between.

With everything going on at WDW we usually will eat breakfast in our room (cereal, breakfast bars, juice or something) and then have a full meal just after the lunch rush (1-2 in the afternoon) and then we have some kind of counter service in the evening. There are days and meals we plan differently for, but that is how we seem to spend more days.

We were in the WORLD last week for the first time with our DD's 6&4. We had some pretty good meals. Here's what we liked:

Boma's-Outstanding!!! My daughters liked it too, they do have a children's buffet area with Mac & cheese, chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, etc.
My girls thought it was a really cool restaurant. We got there a little early and walked around the hotel and went out to the public viewing areas and saw some animals. Needless, to say my girls now want to stay at this hotel if we ever go back!

Sci-Fi-Why does this place get so many mixed reviews???? We loved it!! We ate lunch here ( no burgers on dinner menu) and the burgers were excellent!! The shakes were good too!!! Again, my DD's loved this place, and I got high marks for being a cool mom to find it and make a PS for it!!!

We saw Aurora at Cinderella's breakfast at the castle. That was the only place we saw her.
