I added on 100 points on Animal Kingdom and got a $500 reward card. I thought "great, I can use that for my annual passes" WRONG!!!!!!!! It has gotten declined FIVE TIMES, and after 3 calls to the card company and 5 calls to member services, I ended up not even being able to use it and no one knows why. I am absolutely LIVID since ticket prices go up tomorrow, I had to buy today. Does anyone know who I need to contact at DVD about this "reward card" program to complain and hopefully give my card back and get a check? Thanks in advance

I am sorry you are having trouble. I would start with your guide. If he can't help you, ask him to have a manager call and speak with you. I am sure there is a way to track the gift card.

Oh, this might be a silly question, but did you activate the card?

Also ask why it's being denied as that might help in determining who to contact.

I hope it all works out for you.

Yes, today, and checked the balance :( Even the people at the customer service number on the back of the card said the $500 is there. I did talk to someone at Quality Assurance finally and she was very nice and helpful. Basically I have to call DVC Ticketing on Monday and see if they can help me, cancel old transaction and try to use the card. Hopefully it works!

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you. We are waiting for ours- hopefully soon. Sending some pixie dust your way pixiedust:

Some of those gift cards get declined if you try to use them for more than the value of the card. If your transaction was for over $500 and you tried to pay first with the card and planned to make up the difference--that often doesn't work (at least that's what I have heard). Do you know if your CM tried to use another form of payment to get the balance down to $500, and then use the card for the exact amount loaded?

If you are trying to use it for over $500 it will be denied. Pay the difference and have them run it through as $500 even.

Great minds think alike.:goodvibes

I recieved a visa reward card from the Y and it even say it in the directions to

"To make a purchase greater than the amount on the Reward Card, first pay difference by cash, check or your credit/debit card."

You guys are so smart. That's exactly why I don't use the Visa gift cards. When ever someone (the kids) give them to me I instantly buy a Disney gift card with them because they don't have the issues that the Visa ones do. OP, it's too bad you couldn't just go to the store (or Disney store) and buy a Disney gift card to use that instead.

As far as I have been told, you cannot use gift cards towards a pass. They did something new as of June 1st. I cannot use a GC and get my CM discount. So I am not sure what is going on! I would be interested to know how and why you got a $500 gift card in the first place! I added 100+ points yesterday and did not get one! who do I call?? lol

That seems kinda silly. I know that WDW and DLR are often worlds apart but I used a Disney gift card to buy a Disneyland AP just a few days ago.

If anything, Cast Member restriction? Even that sounds strange. Can't imagine why Disney would refuse to accept any reasonable form of payment for its products.

Besides, OP is referring to a prepaid Visa card which is supposed to function just like cash. There shouldn't be any restrictions on its use. Any organization who displays the Visa logo should be able to accept it.

Was part of the incentives from the webcasts in mid-May and early June.

This happened to us on a smaller $25 card when I tried to make a $25 purchase. Was told that since it is a Visa, they treat it like a credit card, so they (whoever you are purchasing services/items from) make a $1 charge to make sure that it is valid. Then they charge the amount. If this is the case, you only had $499 on the card when they tried to run it for $500. :confused3

I've read that with gift cards being used as credit card purchases, you have to "assign" yourself to the g/c. Since the retailer tries to process it like a credit card, it is looking for the billing name and address to match the purchasing name and address. And when they don't match, because usually pre-paid g/c don't have your name and address unless you physically add it, it gets declined.

I'm not sure I explained this correctly, but hopefully it makes a little sense to someone.

Yep, we tried this also. We even tried just charging it $400 and putting in my Disney Visa first to make sure it didn't overcharge the debit card. I explained this to all the CM's except the first one (because I didn't know at that point, then I called the # on back of Visa Debit and they told me how they should do it), but it still wouldnt work. The nice woman at Quality Assurance called Member Services, then called me back and said they were probably trying to run it through as a gift card, and not a credit card, even though I told them every time it is a Visa Debit, NOT a gift card.:sad2:

Thanks for the pixie dust, hopefully I will get it worked out tomorrow

If you purchased your points with a CM discount then you aren't eligible for the gift card or any other promo. Just an FYI.

OP- I hope this gets squared away and that you can purchase your passes with the old pricing.---Kathy

I had the exact same problem Friday. I was trying to buy tickets before they went up and used my Disney gift card first then my credit card for the balance. It would not go through. It kept giving me reasons why the transaction would not go through. Finally I put in the Disney reward card amount for $5 less than what it actually had on it and it, and the balance on my Disney Visa and it went through. Not sure if you tried that, but it worked for me.

We tried paying for the DDP in Dec with a Visa giftcard that DH's father had given us for Christmas. It was for $200 and no matter what we did it kept being declined. They said for some reason they can not take them over the phone. I was able to use Disney GCs with no problems but for some reason that Darn Visa would not work!

GREAT NEWS! I talked to the woman at ticketing today, who knew what she was doing, and had it all fixed within 10 min. Granted, I was on hold 26 min, but it was worth it. She reversed the charges on my CC and put $500 on my Visa Debit I got for buying more points. I'm so relieved
