So. Louisiana to Fort Wilderness

Check out the Chatahoochee KOA it is about an hour before Tallahasee. Go to www.koa.com
We have stayed there before for a short over-nighter. Got in late, pulled thru, hooked up water and electric only, used their showers (which were clean) then pulled out early the next am.

Get their 1-800 # then call them that evening to see which sites will be available that nite. They do not require a ressie and usually post everything on a board outside the door. They are about 1 mile off I10.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good place to stop! I hope we can make it to Tallahassee so we don't have that extra hour in the am, but i guess we'll see how it goes!! it's getting closer..... :Pinkbounc

woo hoo!! How nice to see some cajuns on this board. We are staying at Fort Wilderness cabins in December and we are planning to drive straight through. It should be ok for us because we are going at 4 adults who can drive. We do however have a 2 year old aboard with us. We just hope he sleeps the whole way there. If not I am thinking we will stop somewhere in Florida for an overnight stay.

HAVE A MAGICAL TIME IN DISNEY!!!! :wizard:

When I was younger the word cajun wasn't as popular as the word "coon(butt) (tail) (you-know-what)" and my father being a full-blooded "coon" married someone who wasn't....sooo he said I was just a "half-(you-know-what)"!! :cool1:

We prob could drive straight through but my poor hubby is the only driver.. Well I drive - just not with a 5th wheel following so close behind.

Your length of travel time will increase while towing. We can do the trip in 10 hrs without a camper but it takes 14 hrs :earseek: when we pull the camper.

19 days and counting!!!!!

Another Cajun here. (but married to a texan) We are going in November. We are leaving in the AM and plan on staying at the Yogi Bear in Madison. Yahoo Maps says it is a 9 hour travel. I expect to leave Lafayette at 9 AM and get to the Bear at 9 PM. We will have a 4 year old and a 1 year old with us, so I am planning a few stops for the trip.

Ree, my husband and I are also from Lafayette. I hope your stay is fun. Let us know when you get back how the trip was with a 1 year old. Please!! You can email me at Timberdoodle88@aol.com or just post here.

Oh my, we have a Ree, a Lee and a Dee in this thread! :-) Ree, when in November are you going? We arrive on 11/27. Wouldn't it be great if our trips overlapped?

I wanted to say thanks to all of you for posting this thread.. I have not
posted yet on it but I have gotten some great tips from reading it.
We are leaving Oct. 28th stopping overnight. (*didn't know where we were going to stop at before but now have some pretty good ideas after reading this thread) and leaving to come home on Nov. 4Th) Staying in the 1400 loop. This will be our first time camping at FW. And our first time bringing the children to WDW. Hubby and I have not been to WDW in over 20 years... Should be interesting!
I am having a great time planning it. :flower:
Any ideas when I need to buy my tickets for the MNSSHP?
I don't know how much in advance I need to buy them?
I still need to call and buy our tickets for WDW still.. Hubby just had a major
surgery so I am alittle behind.
Thanks,
Kelly :cool1:

It looks like you want to go to MNSSHP very close to Halloween, so I'd call to get those tickets NOW. Last year the Halloween night ones sold out very early and were going for $$$ on ebay :earseek:

We are going from 11/20 to 11/26. That is when the schools are out so that is when I have vacation. I have thought about adding 2 days to the trip, but my Vacation days would be running out for Christmass. I am also already planning our trip for Thanksgiving 07 and will use this trip as a warm-up. I have not told the wife about the 07 trip, and probably will not. :) Aint I a stinker.

NOW!!! You can get your regular park tickets later but they sell out Halloween and if you wait too long you may not be able to get them.

Thanks so much.. I just called and got our tickets for Oct. 31st. Thanks for the tips and help!!! I still have not gotten the regular tickets for the parks but I should have plently enough time for that, right?

You guys and gals are GREAT!!! :cheer2:
Thanks again! :teeth:

You can get your tickets there. We went to DTD when we arrived in January and purchased ours at the ticket booth there so we wouldn't have to wait in line at the park. If you are planning on eating alot of meals out, then I would suggest that you look into the MYW packages. I have a friend going and the 2 adults and 1 child are eating lunch and dinner each day for $100, including gratuity.

Also, for MNSSHP, you get free strollers when it begins (6pm?) AND you can go into the park as early as 4pm and not use a regular park ticket for that day! MNSSHP is a great value because you get 8 hours in the park for what $30-$35. So take a relaxing day at FW and go to MK at 4pm, then you still have one day of park ticket to use.

Thanks so much for the ideas.. I didn't know that about the free strollers either. It makes sense when you think about it as though you are saving a day of passes to use for another day when you go to the MNSSHP.
Now, I can have fun planning the costumes... lol
