I have booked Disney Transfers for my land and sea trip in May. After reading these boards religiously for the last four months this is what I understand will happen - please correct me if I amwrong...

After we get off the plain we will meet a CM near baggage claim (will he/she have a sign with our name on it or something?). The CM will escort us to our bus and we don't have to get our luggage, they will.

When I get to CBR, I check in with DCL and then the hotel and then its off to my room where our luggage will magically appear!

On the final day of my land portion, our luggage will be picked and transported to the ship while we go to AK where WE will be picked up and taken to port.

When we get to port we can go right onto the boat and into our room if it is ready...

On the last night on the ship we will leave our luggage outside our room for pick up. When we leave the ship, we will claim our luggage and then check it in with the airline before we get on the bus to the airport...

I am pretty sure that I have the right idea but will someone who has done it (or knows about it) please confirm or disconfirm my beliefs?

Sorry to be a pain but this just comes along :flower: with my obbsessive compulsive planning behavior!

Everything sounds correct, except I don't think the bus will pick you up from Animal Kingdom and take you to the port. They only pick-up from the resorts.

I have never used Disney transfers, however we were at the AK and there were signs and people waiting to be picked up for the DCL on a sailing day. It made me sad seeing the signs, but cheered up after entering the AK, it was a lot better then being at home.

The cruise bus will pick you up at AK. Just make sure that, when you check in, you tell them that's what you want to do!

Sounds like you have a good idea of what to expect :) When we went we were met by a CM with a sign that said Disney Cruise Line and there was a group of us that met them and walked to the bus. When you check in at the resort that is your check in for the cruise too. As far as the meeting at AK I don't know. When we went (2001) we were picked up at our resort. Have fun!!!!!

DCL does pick up at Animal Kingdom, the check in desk is behind the far left ticket booth, outside Guest Relations before you enter the park. (There are A-frame signs directing you to the check in counter.

Like Beth said, you must tell the DCL rep at your resort that you want to be picked up at AK. You will take your carry-on bags with you to AK and check them with the DCL rep. Very simple process.

Have a great time! :flower:

That is exactly right!

This is how we did it when we went on our DEC. 2004 land/sea. Dcl transfers are the best. Especially for first time cruisers like we were, it made a big difference.

Depending on which airlaine you choose to fly with, you get to check your luggage at the end of the cruise and not have to lug them around at check-in at the airport. We were not eligible for that since we were flying with Air Canada, so when we disembarked we picked up our luggage and brought them over to the DCL bus to go to the airport. We checked them in once we arrived, but that wasn't too much trouble either.

I am glad to hear the someone else is as worried as I am. We are doing the land/sea vacation in May and I have huge fears that our luggage will not end up where we are. Everyone comments are comforting.

Jodi: I had the very same fear. And our luggage showed up like clock work! After we boarded the ship, the luggage started showing up in the hall way. One bag at a time. I was getting very worried as it was getting close to 5:00pm and we still did NOT have all of our luggage. But it all showed up. And the tags stayed on! I know it's easy for me to say, but please try not to worry. It all seems to work out! :flower:

Have a wonderful trip!

I noticed that we both have 1 month until our vacation...will you be going on May 19th to WDW and on May 22nd heading to the Wonder??? If so, at least we won't be all alone while worrying about our luggage :flower:

It sounds like we are just going to miss each other. We will be staying at CBR on 5/15 and going to the Wonder on 5/19. I am sure the bags will be fine, I just don't like them not being in my control.
