So just how hot is WDW in July?

I have been to Florida in July.....not at Disney, but July is usually HOT HOT HOT! My cousins go every July and they have said it is almost unbearably hot!

Thank you for all the replys. Looks like we are going. Last week in July!

Now....8 weeks to prepare! This should be a fun project.

We're going 1st week of August, and I like to think I am semi-prepared for the heat, as we have long stretches of 100+ degree days in the summer here in inland So Cal. However, we don't have the humidity to the extent that FL does. I'm hoping the slightly lower temps than I am used to (give or take 10 degrees) will balance out the hideous humidity. I know am probably fooling myself. :lmao:

I've been to Disneyworld in July. Actualy it was in 1993. It was sooooooo HOT! It was our first trip ever to Disneyworld. It feels like your breathing in wet air out of an oven. It was awful. I have only passed out once my entire life due to heat stroke and I'm happy to say it was in Epcot Center in front of the France Pavillion. I was walking next to my dad (i was 15 at the time) And I told him i felt like i was going to throw up. Next thing I know I woke up on a bench in front of France with a few cast members, my family and a few paramedics. Yep it was a heat stroke. I used to tell everyone it was the worst trip of my life and I'd never go back. Hahahahah, We leave next month for wdw it's my 3rd time going. (we live on the west coast) It's our Ds7 second trip. Now I can admit it really was a great trip. One of the best and most memorable. It is very hot though, very hot.

I guess it depends where you normally live? It was VERY hot when we went in July 3 years ago, but we live in Charleston, South Carolina - so it's not really any hotter than here (of course both places are dreadfully hot!). I found that we went through clothes pretty quickly - two outfits per day, plus swimsuits. Our plan was do park first thing in morning, then come back at lunch or right after lunch and change into swimsuits - then after swimming - we napped - then took showers and put clean clothes on - (there was no way you wanted to put those sweaty clothes on again). We stayed for a week and halfway through (I think it was the day we just stayed at ANimal Kingdom all day) - we stayed in that night and just swam and relaxed (and did a couple loads of laundry - LOL - since laundry room was near the pool).

Of course it's hot, but who cares? It's WDW! I agree with the poster about the air conditioning though. Last year we got stuck in an evening shower right before HDDR. My lips turned blue and I was shivering, but it still was one of the best times of my life.
Also we find that the "dri-fit" clothing works the best at keeping cool and dri.
July here we come! :sunny:

Don't let everyone scare you - I teach school so the only time I have been to Disney is in July. It is hot -but bearable. Just drink lots of water and take breaks. Also, go into AC attractions in the afternoons - The nights are great - I love Disney - heat and all!

:cheer2:

Went last July, 95 degrees, 95% humidity. now DW and I had a great time (we like the heat and humidity). Stepping out the front door is like entering a sauna (you will get wet). We observed the walls on the inside of buildings sweating. Take it easy, drink plenty (heat stroke can sneak up fast). step into shops for air conditioning breaks. and hit the pools in the hottest parts of the day. oh ya sun screen, sun screen, sun screen!!!!

Sorry to have to tell you this, but yes, you are fooling yourself. I've a California native and I know the heat in California--but let me tell you it's nothing like what you'll have in Disneyworld in August. The humidity will get ya--

That said, we're going this July for our second July trip because I'm a teacher, and so we'll be going in July until I retire I think. We're also going to take our time, rest in the afternoons, drink lots of water, use sunscreen, and have a blast. Polynesian here we come!

:rolleyes1 I can't HEEEAAAR you!! la la la la la

:)

Yeah, that's why we're going then, too. I teach and my kids are also in school by the second week of August, so we're probably never going to be able to visit any other time than the Hell Months, either. Alas. I guess we'll deal with it the way everyone else does. We have a nice, spacious, cool OKW 1 br to retreat to when the afternoons become unbearable, so I'm sure things could be infinitely worse. :thumbsup2

Another urban legend. The only way to get 95 degrees 95% humidity is to condense steam. Although it may fell higher, in Florida a hot :sunny: humid day the air heats up so fast that at 95 degrees it is rare to get over about 50% relative humidity. Most of the time it is around 40%. It just feels worse.

If you want to feel real humidity, go to southeast Asia. It is much worse than anything in Florida. Still, their worst day is 95 degrees 60% humidity, which is orders of magnitude worse feeling than 95 degrees 45%.

In Florida, when it rains in the afternoon and steam is coming off the ground, the rain has cooled it down to maybe 80 or 85 degrees, but it is still always less than about 70% relative humidity. It is never over 90%. The enthalpy will not allow it.

In case you are wondering, when Disney buys air conditioners for your room, the summer design condition they use, the typical hottest day of a normal year, is 94 degrees and 44% humidity. Of course, this is a dew point of about 70 degrees. When you visitors keep going in and out of the door :teeth: , the outside air comes in and hits the airconditioned inside which is colder than the dewpoint, and water condenses on everything, the walls, floors, ceiling, and furnishings. Wet insides of buildings. Watch out for the slippery tile floors.

Ok so I might have exaggerated just a tad for effect :rolleyes1 but you get my point, its hot hot hot, don't believe everything u read :rotfl2:

Well, then, gosh. It was 92 degrees and 45% humidity here in inland So Cal just last Friday and though it was a bit sticky, that wasn't so bad. However, the trip planner at www.wunderground.com says that between Aug 1 and Aug 8 (my week) the avg humidity percentage is between 66 and 83 percent. Here in inland so cal, it's between 32 and 56 percent. I think I am probably going to die. :bitelip:

Not only is it HOT it is Crowded so the Air can't flow. We went one time in July and said Never Again. Just be prepared for the heat to hit you in the face from the pavement.

It's nasty hot. Like sitting in a car that's been parked in the hot sun all day and blowing a blowdrier in your face.
