I hated the horror of having to go to the DMV and renew my driver's license. If you've ever been to or head about NJ DMV you know what I'm talking about. So I walked in and there was an argument going on. A guy yelled a not so nice "f" word at an employee and out the door he went! I got into the correct line and waited my turn. I had all my papers totalling my required 6pts. ready. It's MY turn, I sit down at the table, give the woman my papers. She checks them, I pay and I'm sent to wait in the next area. A woman starts calling numbers, 21, 22, 23 - that's ME - #23! I go up to her, give her my papers, she does her imput and then takes my picture. She said that it will take a few minutes for the license to be ready. Ok, I wait, it's done. I look at my watch and I'm shocked by the time all of this took. From the time that I walked into the building until the time I walked out it took a total of 7 MINUTES!!! Way to go DMV!! :Pinkbounc

I've noticed that the DMV has become much better in recent years, especially if you need something basic. Ours is open late on Thursdays. Ih has been my observation that it's best to go just before they close so they have a reason to bust their butts and get you - and themselves - out the door faster.... :rotfl:

When I had to renew my license last year I dreaded it! Stopped at Barnes & Noble on the way to get a new book and prepared for a 3 hour wait like the last time I'd been there. Only got 10 pages read! For once it seems something has improved in NJ.

I agree-the last 2 times I ahve been to the DMV(in Englewood) I assume I'll be there forever and both times it took less than 15 minutes, I don;t know what they did to make such a huge change from the way it used to be, but I love it!

Went to the WI DMV a couple weeks ago. Dreaded it, and waited to the last possible day to renew my DL. Much to my surprise, I grabbed a number, read a NEW magazine, and got my license, out the door in 20 minutes.

I will say a visit to the DMV still makes me feel better about myself...

dmv is a huge improvement. But I just realized I need to renew my license in 2 months. I don't have alot of those 5step id things. I have to order things and hope they're here on time.

I understand the ID thing and how important it is, but geez, I thought they were going to ask for my firstborn! Not that I wouldn't give him over at times........ :teeth:. Still only took me about 10 minutes start to finish, I was shocked.

Man, the last time I went to the DMV I walked in 2 hours after opening and received my number (It was like 14 and they were on 36)... so... I went home, got lunch, took a nap, watched TV... went back to the DMV 5 hours later and they were at number 11. So in total... only about 6 hour wait.

It is so much better now. I am always in and out.
