So is Illuminations going to end?

Any word on if its a definite end for Illuminations when the partnership end or are we thinking a new company will sponsor it?
If it does end will that mean no nighttime show for a while or is something else already in the works to take over immediately?
Illuminations is my favorite nighttime show and really the only one I even care about so if it ends I may not have a reason to stay at Epcot until park closing.

(BTW I understand that sponsors have come and gone in the past and Illuminations has stayed however I have been hearing rumors of Disney wanting to replace it for years now so it makes me wonder if with the end of this sponsorship they will go through with the change)

The partnership is ending but that doesn't mean Illuminations will end on that date. Illuminations will continue until a new show is put in place.

I would be devastated if it was gotten rid of altogether. If it is udated I would still miss the old one but would hope its still there in some capacity. I love it more than Wishes. There is something more mature about it and the music always makes me cry.

Um I am not opposed to changes at WDW and I certainly don't want it to be a museum.
I just feel that THOSE fireworks are the best that Disney has to offer and THAT soundtrack is the best Disney has to offer.
The song "We Go On" is really amazing.
They could change up some of it to update it but still keep the overall theme and I would probably still enjoy it but what I've heard is a complete revamp of something that is totally and completely different and I find that that would be unnecessary. It attracts a huge crowd every night so why change it drastically.

How are they outdated? It is still routinely rated one of the top fireworks shows. Sure it could be updated to be even better but it's not some old piece of junk or something. The lasers for example were updated a year or two ago.

The message is unknown to the vast majority of people that see the show. And don't ask me what it is, I never bothered to find out, and I have watched it once or twice a week, every week, for years. And to those who don't know or simply don't care, it's all about the visuals and the music. And that's fine, because even with it's short comings, whatever they're perceived to be, I prefer it over the other three shows.

Here come the tomatoes, but I'm one of those people who has never been that into Illuminations. I know, I know! I was among those who loved Wishes and was devastated to see it go However, with the new show, I think I'll survive.

Maybe the effects of Illuminations itself are kind of dated (edit: I read the lasers were more recently updated?), but I think the message of the show is still a good one I would be surprised if the show changes any because of the sponsor, but if it does, I hope they keep the "world" theme going to coincide with the showcase.

(....Although I'm not opposed to a Sam the Eagle show either.)

I absolutely love Illuminations. I will be sad to see it go, but at the same time, I am all for an updated show, possibly with new technology. I think they could do something with projections on Spaceship Earth, that would be pretty cool, either as part of the show, or as a pre-show.

There are places around Magic Kingdom where the castle isn't visible. There are places around DHS where the Chinese Theater isn't visible. I don't see this as a huge problem. SSE is visible from the vast majority of World Showcase.

Wouldn't bother me at all, I'm not a fan. I like the fireworks, I like when they light up every country but that globe just bothers me. I've watched it from a lot of locations around WS and have never been able to see the whole thing (I'm height challenged which also causes problems at the Star Wars show and I imagine will at the new MK show). It's my least favorite show in all the parks and I normally leave the park or go shopping when it's on.

Obviously, but isn't that the reason people gather at the locations with a view of the castle or the theater? They would have to do the same thing with SSE.

People used to routinely watch Wishes from Fantasyland where you couldn't see the projections at all. I don't see why EPCOT wouldn't be the same.

I think that much of world showcase has a view of SSE . . . though I could be wrong. Honestly, I've never purposely walked world showcase looking to see if SSE was visible, so it is fully possible that my assertion of it being visible from the vast majority of the showcase is wrong.

It's probably more visible than any other icon throughout its given park in Florida
