We have booked chef mickey for 12/5 for our trip down to disney from 11/28-12/7. This is something differant for us and just wondering if it is worth it?

I don't know if it worth the price for you, but for us it was and here are the reasons. We have children that have problems waiting in lines, so it was nice that they came to meet you at the table. We enjoyed the food. And it is a fun atmosphere at Chef Mickey. I hope this helps.

If you plan to stand in line to get photos & meet the characters that are at CM, including Mickey of course, then I think it's worth it. I see it as killing two birds with one stone, you get to sit and eat while you wait for the characters this way, instead of doing both separately. If you dont care much about meeting the characters and are only going for the food, then IMO it's not worth either the $$$ or the crowds at CM.

Hope this helps!:)

For us it is worth it. :goodvibes
The food is very good for a buffet. The atmosphere is really loud and fun...with our kids, that is a good thing;) . And it is an opportunity for them to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald without the long lines. :)

edited to add: I totally agree with the pp. It isn't worth it JUST for the food alone. However, it is for the dining experience.

We LOVE Chef Mickey's!!!

I dont think that we would do a trip to The World with our kids and not do Chef Mickey's...it is a tradition for us! It is moderately priced (IMO), and I have never been disappointed with the buffet offerings. The character interaction is priceless, the kids love when the characters dance around the restaurant...and come table to table for pic's - priceless.

This past trip we also added Mickey's Backyard BBQ to our agenda, and I would NOT do that again. For the price that you pay (significantly more than Chef Mickey's, mind you there is wine and beer included) - but for the price you pay I expect to be able to be guaranteed a table to sit at. When we arrived, we spent over 15mins just looking around for someplace to sit (it is first come first serve sort of thing....) Not my cup of tea!

I hope you and your family enjoy CM's! :goodvibes

This isn't really a theme parks issue, so I've moved this thread to the Restaurants board. :)

CM is our all time favorite. It is the only place we have gone on every one of our trips and can not imagine not going to. We actually go twice a trip, once for dinner (Thanksgiving) and once for a late breakfast on our last day before we head home. It is so wonderful, we love it!!!!

ANything is worth the price if you enjoy it

We did CM dinner once and will not go back. WHile the characters were awesome the food was terrible

We had a great dinner here is May!! Great place, good characters, and we absolutely loved the food - was our favourite buffet!!

I went in October and while the character interaction was great, the hot food was awful (cold mashed potatoes and gravy anyone?). Salads and cold foods were good as was the make your own sundae.

We have been to CM twice and plan on going again this Jan. It is well worth the $$$$. The food is good but it is the interaction with Mickey and gang that make it so special. If you do go make sure to get the family photo....the memories are worth the cost. We have done it both times and it is fun to see how our 2 DS change....it is one of their fav pictures from our trips to look at. Hope this helps.

We were very disappointed with Chef Mickey's. DH and I went in 2000 w/o kids and enjoyed the food. DH loves buffets... Anyhow, we went last Thursday night and while the character interaction was great the food was the most horrible meal we had while at Disney. The beef was very fatty, the potatoes were so thick I could have sculpted something out of them, the kids chix nuggets and grilled chicken strips were sooooo dry, the mac and cheese was grainy...that's just a few of the things we ate. The only thing that was good were the desserts. Even the waitress took forever to bring our check. The food definately went downhill.

LOL, not even close to being worth the price.

The food and service are horrible. The place is filthy dirty, even early in the morning. The picture people can't find you to save their lives.

Do you think it has gone downhill because of the construction???

We thought Chef Mickey's was one of the best meals of our trip!

The food was actually pretty good for a buffet and the characters just made the evening for us.

He is ALWAYS complaining about something but he had a blast at Chef Mickey's. He loved the food and he loved the playfulness of the characters. He's a hard man to impress but I think he'd go back in a minute!

Our whole family loved Chef Mickey's. Good food, service, atmosphere, interaction, photos, signatures, etc. I would recommend an early breakfast and then you are so close to MK and can spend all day there.

I guess like anything, people either really love it or hate it! We're booked for our first experience there for Easter Sunday. I hope it's as fun for the kids as it sounds!

We've only ate the Dinner Buffet at CM (2007) and found the Food Gross.
Kids are not monitered so they can touch some things on the buffet.
It is VERY LOUD in the eating area. I could smell the bake Salmon from my seat--very fishy smelling--I didn't go near it.

Breakfast may be better.
Even being on FREE DINING I didn't find it worth it. For the
3 of us it would have cost $104.00 for dinner (I would have really
been mad if I had to pay OOP for this--luckly we had FD).
We won't return for dinner but maybe Breakfast.
