We are going to Disney on 9/28-10/3 I am so proud of my cost saving trip

$900 5 nights OKW 1 br--rented points from DVC member
$867 6 day park hopper through yes program

$3337
-$800 Disney gift cards from disney visa
-$800 for cousins travel
______________
$1777 for trip for family of four (cousin paid for herself)
:dance3:

What do you guys think???

You charged a cousin more than a fifth of the vacation? And you are pitting five people into a 4 person unit? Or do they allow 5 people in a one bedroom?

Cost for cousin: ticket $173
Dining $230
Flight. $160
Total. $563

So you are charging her $237 for her place in a room that isn't supposed to include 5 people? Does that earn the pullout couch at least? Heck, 1/5 of the hotel is $180!

And, yes, I am bored.

well done..quite a struggle to get $800 in Disney Visa! Wow..that's alot of spending to get points..I'm sure you paid the CC off, but still..wow. I have a friend who can rack up rewards like mad, but she charges everything for she and her DH's business then the business pays off the CC, so she comes out way ahead. It takes me forever to get $100 in rewards points on my CC so $800 is quite a feat :)
Have fun!

Don't forget money for tips at the TS restaurants. That can add up depending on where you're eating.
Great job with the airfare and park tickets. We got 6day PH for only 4 ppl and it was over $900.
We are going your exact same dates and will be at SSR! Not much longer now :)

Wow a little harsh.. I didn't charge her anything. In fact I offered to pay for her. My uncle and Aunt gave it to me.
DVC members can sllep 5 in the 1 bdrm units due to a queen pullout and a twin chair pullout.

We had about $600 on my Dh card. I opened a new card and got a $200 card for opening. We are doing some construction on house so I charge everything.

TBH if I had waited the airfare would have been less than half of what I paid. SW offered $80 each way a couple of weeks ago. (used points) had 40,000 could have flown 4 round trips on these points at this price. I booked my arrival airfare with Delta months ago and cannot cancel.

Are you sure about these numbers? We stayed as a guest of a DVC member for one night and I didn't get the impression that she could get that big of a discount on the dining plan for us if we wanted it. She offered to book it for us, but I don't think we ever discussed specific numbers.

$810 on dining sounds right to me. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but 3 adults @ 45/night = 135 x 5 nights = 675. 2 kids @11/night =22 x 5 nights = 110. $675 + 110 = 785, so my rounded numbers seem on target. I know Disney says they don't add on tax, but whenever I change a room only to an AP room with dining, they always seem to add the resort tax onto the dining portion as well.

For tips, I'd calculate meals at $125-150 (just a guess) for all of you, so an 18% tip would be $22.5 to $27 per meal (multiply that by five). You'll get rewards on your CC if you charge those tips, so go for it! That should be around $125 added to your whole trip. Still a fantastic deal. I hope you have a great time. Don't beat yourself up about the airfare. Wasn't it nice to have it booked in advance and not have to keep pricing the flights? That's worth something at least.

Don't forget to budge for merchandise, mugs, any incidentals you forget, photopass if you choose, etc. Saving is important, but so is having fun.

Just a tip: If you plan on allowing the kids to buy some merchandise, but don't want to have to keep track of how much money they have left, charge some Disney giftcards to your CC for the points and put a post-it on each card with the child's name. Fold the receipts listing the remaining balance around the card (to keep track) and keep them in your wallet (kids are more likely to lose things, but adults do it too). That way they have their own money, but you can still use your CC to get points and you don't have to calculate how much money they've spent each time they want to know if they can buy something. I hope that makes sense. If not, PM me and I'll attempt to clarify:)
