so in the interest of saving gas, a need a bicycle expert...

No stones, please.

What is a good bike (not expensive) that an adult female can learn to ride on? and can you get training wheels for adult bikes? Que the laughter....now answer the question....:goodvibes

Seriously, I never learned and would like to, but don't relish landing on my butt a million times. Would a Walmart bike suffice? How do you know what size? Or is it pretty general/generic? Thanks.

Don't forget to buy a helmet!

Another tip for learning to ride (just taught DS last weekend)...

Find an empty parking lot. We went to one at our local college/community park on Saturday. It was nice & flat, and long and he learned first how to go straight (start & stop), then started on his turns.

The next day we went to a larger parking lot at the same college. It had different "levels" of parking, so he got to work on some "hills" (up & down).

Since it was the weekend, and nothing was happening at the park, both lots were very empty (the second one had some car & people traffic, but nothing that really affected us).

Good Tip!
When I tried to teach my first to ride a bike, I tried to use a sidewalk because I didn't want to have her in the road and our driveway was too short and sloped. Discovered pretty quickly that a sidewalk (even a wide one) is too narrow for a beginning biker, they swerve alot when trying to find their balance.
I moved to a funeral home parking lot (which is empty a good amount of the week) and she learned pretty quickly then. Chruch lots are another good choice, they are empty most of the week.
