So, I'm Buying This Tomorrow....

Yeah, on my current Toyota, cruise control is on a stick on the right. This car has it on the right of the steering wheel. The coolest thing though is that it can keep a set number of car-lengths behind the next vehicle. It just does that! I'm sure that's old news to some of you, but I'm driving that '02 Celica so.... 🤯
Yeah, my DIL's father lives in Los Angeles and he laughed when he saw I had the Camry set for 6 car lengths at 60 mph. He suggested 1 car length!

Yeah, and I'm still driving my well-used 20-year-old Celica - an '02. This is a 2024 Impreza. It's going to be so different!
That's great, Brian. Best wishes for many safe, trouble free driving years ahead. You'll love it.

They threw in the crossbars
I think I'm pretty conversant with auto terms and features but I'm not ringing on this one. What are crossbars? You'll tell me and I will probably go, 'oh yeah', ha.

Nice. I think I rented that car in Orlando in January even the same color. Does it beep at you when someone's in your blind spot or when you don't use your turn signals? Great car it was more high-tech than I'm used to.

Yes, a roof rack, or more specifically, half of it. All Subie wagons/SUVs have the roof rails that run front to rear as standard equipment, but the crossbars that run side to side are sometimes an add-on option. (Mine (a 2019 Outback) has built-in fold-out crossbars, which I -love-.)

One of the things I like best about Subaru is that they still sell stick shifts in multiple trim levels. They really hold their re-sale value, too.

The one issue that I have with my Outback is the brightness of the headlamps; they just are not really bright enough. Next time I bring it in for maintenance I'm going to see if I can upgrade the lamps.

They are the roof rack bars on top. I think they call them that because they are seperate.

Yes it does all that. It'll be interesting. This one is a 2024 so it's redesigned this year, but the previous years did that stuff too.

Maybe another term for a roof/luggage rack?

Ahhh, I see. Yes, I would know those as roof racks. Now I learned a new name for an old item. Thank you all.

Enjoy your new ride! You obviously deserve it! Both for driving your Celica so long and because you are such a nice guy!

Well, thank you. I have debated whetehr or not this is a splurge. I mean, it's am Impreza, so it's really not. It's just so new. Good used cars can are close to the same price though. Toyota wanted to sell me a 2019 CH-R with 50,000 miles on it for $25K! I thought they were nuts. This is only $28K before taxes and fees - 32 out the door.

I've been a little nervous about going for such a new car, but used prices are pretty high, and Subaru wants to play ball. I basically got it for sticker, unlike Toyota who wanted to jack a 28K car to almost 40! All told, she's mine for $32K and change, including all taxes and fees, etc. It's the Sport modle, so the mid-level trim with a few extras added. They threw in the crossbars for free since the red one that I test drove had them and they knew I wanted them, but I didn't want red.
Wow ...based on today's prices It sounds like you struck a really good deal! Happy trails....

Yeah, I mean it's MSRP plus tax basically. Last time I bought a car one would haggle them down a little from that, but in today's market.... This dealership basically told me up front that the price you see on the website is accurate. It's one reason that they came out on top.

Ha ha - I know, right. I keep joking that I now have to get a pair of Tevas and start making my own granola. 🤣
Enjoy the new ride! My SiL has a Subaru she loves.
I just put deposit on 2023 Honda CRV hybrid sport. Think I test drove nearly every SUV out there (from 3 rows to compact). I’m driving a ‘01 4Runner that’s had increasing maintenance cost (basically getting a rebuilt engine right now-) that has 310k miles on it. Since I am a consultant that drives up to an hour each way to some clients needed a new car for a few years but OMG prices!
The 4Runner will become my sons car. Looking forward to better gas mileage!

Nice the dealer threw in the cross bars!

I did want to go hybrid, but in what I wanted, this worked best. It gets like 35/30 MPG anyway, so that's not bad. My Celica was like 34/28 when I got it, though I am sure it doesn't do that now.

They actually discontinued the stick for the 2024 Impreza. I wouldn't have wanted it anyway, but I can see liking it as an option. My sister loves to drive a stick. I did go for a ride in a WRX with a manual and that thing was awesome - just a tad more car than I really need. I might have gotten in trouble with that thing! 😁
