Well my puppy has been sick 6 times this morning. All of her vomit contains shards of wood. Where did she get the wood? Me.
I jumped onto my bed on the weekend and broke one of the wooden things on the underside. I couldn't be bothered to clean all the pieces of wood up so i left them there. Well we were home alone yesterday so i took my puppy into my bedroom to play with her. When I had enough i called for her to come downstairs with me, she didn't come for 5 minutes. Of course having the intelligence of a broom handle I didn't think to go and find her just stood there calling her name. When she eventually came she was her usual happy self but she's been dreadfully sick all morning. My mum said she must have had wood and that wood's very dangerous to a dog. If any pieces get stuck in any part of her body she could die. She rang the vets to make an appointment but there's not much they can do so it just comes down to luck. Luck hates me. So I've potentially killed my puppy. I seriously can't cope with the knowledge that i killed an animal. My poor sister is the only one managing to not panic right now, he won't tell us but i think my dad's quite worried and if she does die then he's to be avoided at all costs. My mum is in tears and she's sworn never to speak to me ever again, not even Danny's talking to me. I feel really bad and i'm so stupid and i can't live if i've killed a puppy, i can't live with that.

I'm sorry, i just needed to vent.

I am so sorry! Try not to worry, my cousin's dog ate a whole bar of chocolate and it lived, though im not sure if wood is more dangerous, but all I know is, have faith. There was no way you could have predicted that this would happen, so try not to blame yourself.

Prayers and pixie dust for your puppy!

My dog has eaten so much chocolate in his life..
not even funny. He's not dead.

Anways, I'm sorry Hazzi! I hope she gets better.

Awhe,Hazzi,I hope she's better soon!

aww, I hope your puppy feels better and your family makes up with you :grouphug:

I think your family is responding very childishly,
you couldn't have predicted that it would eat some wood, you didn't set it out maleciously to hurt it. They are being very unfair, and its obviously hurting you that they're being so angry.
They need to grow up and forgive and forget.

(hope he gets better)

Thanks guys.

The vets given her some tablets to repair any scratches she may recieve from the wood and stop any inflammation. He told us to give her rice and chicken and stuff that the wood splinters can attach themselves to. His worry is is that it's still possible for a shard of wood to get caught in her guts or stomach or throat and kill her. She has to go back to the vets on Thursday for a check up. If it had been metal they'd have operated but the wood doesn't show up on the X-ray so they'd have had to take out her intestines. This can cause a type of stomach poisoning and he said the risk of it was equal to letting it pass through. She's very withdrawn, just a shadow of herself really. She refuses to eat or drink and is in shock. The vet said her body has rejected the foreign object and is trying to create bile to get it out. So she's a bit better now but there's still a chance of death. I haven't spoken to my nan or dad, i'm pretty sure my sister and my brother hate me, my mum speaking to me but she's not impressed. Even though i swore i knew nothing of the wood she made a point about how they could have flushed it out of her system had they gone within 20 minutes of her eating it. I'm also paying the vet bills with my horse-riding money.

I'm so sorry for you and your puppy, but I totally agree with Master Garcy! It's not your falt! Puppy are always doing drivel! You could not imagine, everything in a house can be dangerous for a puppy! They are like babys, they are eating everything they can found! My puppy (last year) ate small stones!!!
It's not your falt if they are a little bit crazy, You don't have to feel guilty !!

I hope she's getting better! Give us news when you can!

(hope I'm not doing too much mistakes!!)

She's a little perkier now and she's eating the chicken and rice which is a good sign.

I agree.

Do they think you don't already feel guilty enough already?

I hope your puppy gets better.

Seriously majorly agreeing here.

Sure, you might have left the wood chips out. So what? Puppies are curious, they'll eat anything! We're still teaching MY puppy what is right and wrong. The fact that you're paying for this, they're totally ignoring you, and that you have the hurt of it all totally is injust. You didn't mean for him to eat it. Accidents happen!

Don't sweat the whole "family ignoring you" ordeal. They'll hopefully get over it soon enough and realize how much you've been hurting from this.

And as for the puppy, I'll pray for him/her tonight. I hope it gets better!

(:

Your family is making you pay for the bills?

Wow. That is not cool. It was an accident, and they're blaming you. I'm speechless.

My old dog ate chocolate a ton and lived to be 17.

Hey CrazyChik,
I'm so sorry to here about your puppy! I also agree your family is being childish. Like everyone's said you could not have predicted this and I could see where your family's coming from but how they are treating you is unfair. In this situation I would be upset but not mad because it's definalty not your fault and I disagree with you having to pay the vet bills (those can be quite costly). Unless you paid in full or part for the puppy I don't think you should ahve to pay the bills. Beacuse technically it's the family's dog (right?) so that means EVERYONE should chip in. You might not want to bring that up to your parents though seeing as they are currently mad.

I know the puppy will get better! Well wishes and Pixie Dust

I really do hope your puppy makes a 100% recovery

I know what it's like to feel responsible to the death of a pet.. I had to put down my 17 year old cat 2 weeks ago which was extremely painful. He was the same age as me and we grew up together, so it sounds weird but I saw him kinda like a sibling - Always knew when I was upset and always sat with me just to make sure I was okay.

Enough of that sad stuff though because by the sounds of it, it seems your puppy is making a recovery, so I hope you and your puppy have many, many wonderful years together!

Thanks guys

She seems a little bit better again this morning, she's eating a tiny bit without persuasion but she does have diarehea(sp?). Not sure if it that's a good sign or not, we have to ring the vet to tell him how she is.
As for paying vets bills, well yeah it's unfair but i'm not bringing that up. It's only cost us £30 so far and i get £100 a month plus whatever is left over from previous months. I'll be mad if i have to pay for an operation though. I promised my sister I'd make her a chicken curry and some fruit flan for dessert. One member down 3 to go. xD

Lexi suffered a relapse today.

She was admitted to the vets where she recieved 3 injections to clear a blockage in her guts. Well all the signs are pointing towards a blockage. She's not interested in anything other than sleeping. She has to have the same injections again tomorrow and if by Friday she still appears to have a block-age then she has to be operated on. All we need is for the however many pieces of wood there are left to unblock themselves and everything will be fine but NOOOO. The semi-good news is that she's no longer sicking any wood up which means it's all in one place.
