So if your pet needed a $5000 MRI, WWYD?UPDATE#38

Sorry you have to make this decision, but there is no way I could/would spend $5,000 on a pet.

Good wishes, Denise, for your little guy. Sure do hope it is not anything serious and a full recovery is around the corner.

I will add that 2 years ago this month (time flies), Vince's dog, Doc, who is here at home with us (both of them, LOL) was diagnosed with lymphoma. He was about 4 1/2 at the time. The vet said it is 100% fatal, untreated, within maybe 8 weeks at the outside, and treated, with chemo, can extend his life for some period of time. Vet said the cost would be in the area of $5,000. Vince decided to go with it and today, 2 years later, Doc is still with us, enjoying life. We do know that ultimately it will return.

Again, Denise, my best wishes.

I'm glad to hear that the price was for all of the treatment, since I also thought $5000 was too high for just the MRI. I am in the camp that would pay the money for my pets if it meant there was a good chance of recovery and they weren't too old to make it worthwhile. Your dog is certainly young enough to have many good years ahead of him if they can find out what is wrong. I hope things go well and they find something that is treatable.

BTW, I know many people who have had great success with the vets at Cornell's Vetrinary school.
