I'm just trying to make a spreadsheet of all of the expenses that I will need to budget for. Has anyone done this or am I just crazy? If you have what is the one expense I'm not thinking of?

I'm not going until July but I'm a huge saver and big planner.

Maybe post an example of the spreadsheet you have or are just starting?

That way we can give you suggestions on what you might need to add and aren't thinking of.

I’d do something along the lines of 5 worksheets. Summary, Tickets, Transport/Hotels, Dining, Experiences/Souvenirs

the last 2 can be harder to budget for, but controlling them will keep you on-budget. Good Luck!

Yes, I use spreadsheets for all vacations, whether it's 3 weeks through the US or a weekend getaway to Vienna (I'm in Europe :) )

Things that can be on my budget list
Flight - based on average price for time of year.
Hotel - based on average hotel price for the city & time of year
Transportation - I don't drive, have to make a budget for public transport or Uber/Lyft/Taxi
Park tickets - If going to Disney or other themeparks
Food & drinks - an average per day for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks/bottled water etc. + one or two nicer meals
Merchandise - Not very big on my list, but always budget in some money
Sightseeing - Museums, tours, other experiences
Tips - tipping is not a thing in my culture, I have to think about it when travelling to the US
Extra - always budget 100 euro extra for everything I didn't think about on forehand

Possible food costs while traveling depending on how far away you are.
Photopass?

I'm also a spreadsheet enthusiast! All past Disney trips were budgeted out, including daily spending money for each person on the trip! I made to include tax and tip on table service meals, transportation tips, etc. All of this was included in what I called Trip Books. Each of us had a little book I created that had tentative schedules, budgets, maps (if we were going away from the parks for part of the trip), entertainment schedules, etc. Since cell connection can and does go down, everyone had a 'back-up'.

There was just a thread from another poster with a link to her google sheet she's using to track budgeting and saving towards her trip @ColoradoLime . She posted it here previously but I can't remember the name! Here's the link:

I've used it to create my own, but it is not as nice as hers so I thought I'd share this one. Here is the original thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/2021-2022-saving-up-for-disneyland-thread.3845763/

Wow! that is a NICE spreadsheet! I tend to do Pages Docs. Our recent trip to WDW was about 30 pages. But we RV so it includes not only finances, but driving routes & RV reservations, clothing packing lists & trailer supplies, and also our 'secondary' destinations (this year is was the FLA Keys) and complete information for those places, too.

But I tell you what, we don't ever worry about running short on finances, forgetting a toothbrush, or taking a wrong turn! nDH says he's glad that all he has to do is get in the truck and hit the road because I've already done all the thinking.
