So I have my gift cards now what help please

Ok so I used some tricks I saw here and have my Disney gift cards all set. I have 3 physical cards with different amounts each. i have them in the Disney gift card site all registered. I have heard some people talking about combining them in case one gets lost etc.,
so should I combine them all into one? Do I take all 3 physical cards with me? Can someone explain all this to me the best way to go about being safest with these and how to use them?

When I'm traveling with GCs, I 1) combine onto one balance, 2) put that card in the wallet that will come into the park every day, 3) put a zero balance (but previously activated) card in a different wallet or bag and 4) note the GC numbers and codes in a note on my phone. I don't actually leave active cards on the Disney GC site because people have had funds stolen if their Disney password is hacked.

The note is useful regardless because you can copy-paste from it into MDE if you're buying something, like Mobile Ordering. In the case of the card with a balance going missing, you can use the note to add both the lost card and the other $0 card back to the Disney site, transfer funds from the lost card to the other one that's in your possession, and be able to keep using those funds on your trip.

Not sure if that's the *best* way, but that's the way I try to hedge against a bag or wallet going missing with GC value on it.

It’s personal choice. I do it differently. I take 10+ gc’s with us to Disney. I take a couple to the park with us and leave the rest in the safe in the room. I keep the cards in my backpack with a sharpie. As I use them I write the declining balance on the GC. Possibly not the most convenient for some but it works for us. I’m concerned about losing a GC with a large $ value on it, just as I wasn’t one to carry large amounts of cash either.

Both options work.

I keep the cards in my backpack with a sharpie. As I use them I write the declining balance on the GC. Possibly not the most convenient for some but it works for us. I’m concerned about losing a GC with a large $ value on it, just as I wasn’t one to carry large amounts of cash either.

I do this. I also write in sharpie on the two gift cards which one has the balance loaded and which is the "backup." If I were to lose the first one, I'd just go onto Disney Gift card and move the balance to the backup. Just make sure you don't leave any card with a balance on the site once you've loaded it.

PLEASE do not leave gift cards with values on the Disney gift card site -- too many accounts have been hacked and the value(s) lost. As others mention, you can combine them up to a max of $1000 on a card, but then delete the card from the website.

Yes. If the first GC you enter does not cover the balance, I believe you can use a second one. (We haven’t been since Jan 2022 so going from memory but I don’t remember it being a problem.)

The good thing is I use PC points to purchase the gc’s so we basically eat for free!

Hi! I am also Canadian, where are you able to get giftcards with PC points, at Shopper drug mart? I haven't seen any at my local shoppers but it is a bit smaller...

Lol. So true! At least after the first spend I'll see a balance in USD, correct? That's why I've been buying on $100 or more so that it can at least cover a lunch haha.

I used to do that when I tried to budget using gift cards. Now, I have two cards with some money on them and another one or two with a lot of money. My DH and I both carry cards with $100-$200 and I transfer as needed. I also keep my card numbers in my Contacts list or notes app to get to them faster.

OP, don’t forget to pay off your resort balance with gift cards the night before you check out! I often end up buying extra gift cards from Target via email while at WDW because of my budgeting fails lol.

You can’t. I put the gift card number in my phone (Contacts or Notes app) and copy and paste the number when I want to use it for mobile ordering or G+.

2FA adds some protection to just leave the cards on there. Not a terrible idea to delete them to be completely safe, but also not completely warranted either.

Another thought - if they are added to your account someone else can't add them to their own account (at least that's what I've heard - never tried it myself). If someone could get your number and PIN (for example, if you hand your card to a CM at a table service restaurant and they manage to take a picture of it) they could add the card to their own account and transfer the balance.

Under FAQs, Disney states, DisneyGiftCard.com is not a mobile wallet and should not be considered as such. Be sure to keep your physical and digital Disney Gift Cards with you as they will be required to make any purchases.
Disney makes it clear you should not leave $ in the gift card in the account.

To me that means that you need the physical cards to make purchases. There's no reason you couldn't keep it in your account to track the balance.
