and requested a room in the '50s building on the 4th floor, facing Epcot.

And this is what we got....

It was PERFECT and you can see the Epcot fireworks like it was a private showing!!

Wonderful views!! I will keep note of the location of your room and request the same prior to my next trip down this summer. How long in advance did you fax your reqest?

Is there a list somewhere of the resort fax info? How far in advance should you fax?

If you have your request in your reservation there is no need to fax.

For 2 years we had a request in our reservation for a king size bed, and 2 years given 2 doubles. Last year we had the request in our resevations but also faxed the request in the way All-ears tells you how to do it. Along with the kng bed we also requested 50's building at POP and got both requests. So this year I also plan on faxing just to be double covered, but that is probably still no guarantee.

While you may feel there is no need to fax, I can tell you from experience that it works. In all my visitis to WDW, I only went one time without faxing a request and that is the only time it was not honored. (Yes, I do realize that no request is guaranteed and it is only a request. :))

Quite honestly, CROs documentation within the reservation is a far cry from accurate most of the time. Each time I have been within that final month of my trip and I call to verify all reservations, I have found there are problems with my requests, many times things listed that I never asked for and honestly don't exist. (POFQ, 4th floor, Lobby View? :rotfl2: )

When I fax a very nice letter, my requests have always been honored. (not a long list, just one or two)

I do understand where you are coming from, however I don't think you should urge guests not to send fax requests. That is Disney's job if that is their choice. ;)

Beautiful view! I know some say it doesn't help to fax, but then the obvious question to the OP is..Did you also make this request with your original reservation?

That is exactly the view that I am hoping for during our stay in September, and if faxing might help me a little bit more, than I am going to send a fax request as well.

Thank you for sharing your pictures!!

No, I didnt request it originally so I faxed my request about 3 days before. I think the fact that it was mine and DH's anniversary may have helped plus the resort wasnt that crowded. Or maybe we just got lucky?

BUT- this just proves it doesn't hurt to try and you may just get what you request!

What a lovely view! I'm so happy you got your request!

Something everyone needs to understand.....there have been many reports from CMs that the room assigners are not looking at faxes anymore. Yes, this tends to differ by resort, but at this point, who knows for sure which resorts are paying attention and which are not. I just want to be sure that everyone realizes that if they send along a faxed request, it may very well end up on the floor, in the trash.
I have always gotten exactly what I have asked for with no faxing. I make my requests when I book. Sometimes I call back later on to make sure the right things are noted, they usually are. The one time I didn't come close to my requests was at POP, late afternoon, at a pretty busy time of year. I was actually quite happy with the room I ended up in though. I requested a lake view, highest level possible. I got ground floor, with the lake way over to the side, and a parking lot in back of the bushes (80's section). When I asked the CM if there were any other options, she practically dropped her teeth...told me most people would die for this room...ah, no, I wasn't believing that. But, she was the worst CM I have ever had at checkin and I didn't want to stand there and deal with her.

what an awesome view! is the 50s building the only one with a possible Epcot view?

There are 2 50's buildings with that view- Tramp and Jukebox buildings. Also Playdough building in 60's, but you can't see Spaceship Earth. Still, a nice view of the fireworks from the top floor!

OP- thanks for the great pics! :)

The past 2 years we've had our requests on our ressie and they weren't even close. So I'm gonna try to fax it this year.

Very nice! Its good to know that at least some CM'S actually read the room requests.

We were at POP 2 weeks ago. Faxed my request 3 days before arriving and it was honored. I highly recommend faxing a request.:3dglasses
