you are never going to believe this but the CM there told me he just made himself my guide. I said what happened to my guide and he said will he hasn't been in touch with you for two years so I took your contract over. I'm not too sure how I feel about this. While it is true my guide hasn't called me (didn't know he was supposed to) I really didn't feel that the guide at the store was too knowledgeable either. LOL At least I got my Free DVC Christmas Ornament which is what I went there for anyway. So tell me does your guide call you? If so what does he say? Thanks
 
My guide was LuAnn at DTD and she was let go. When I went to the store a guy appointed himself my new guide. That's fine with me, though I really did like LuAnn.
 
I've had two guides, neither of whom kept in regualr contact. I liked the first one just fine (and I think he is still with DVC) but he was not at the office on the day we did our last add-on in 1996 and they switched us the "new" guy. If I ever do another add-on, I'll switch back to my original guide, if he is still with the company.
 
When my guide left, I was "assigned" a new guide at the local Doorway to Dreams. I just didn't click with him so asked friends about their guide (who they love). I was able to switch over to my friend's guide. Last time I talked to her she said they keep switching me over to someone in IL and she keeps switching me back (thankfully).

My guide was *****, and I cannot stand her. Did not like how she handled us at all. Gave us a line of crap about how she wouldn't get the commission if we didn't let her close the deal. We only had 1 day in which closing would work for us, so that was the day we did it. The woman that handled the closing was awesome, and even called us later that week to see how we liked our membership. I haven't heard one iota from *****, except I do get mailings were her contact info. Not that I will be calling her anytime soon. I wish I knew how to change my guide to the one that did the actual closing- she was incredibly pleasant.

Jeez....I didn't even know I was suppose to have a "guide." Guess we are orphans :rotfl:
 
I've had Celeste since we first bought 10 years ago. She doesn't call me unsolicited but does return every phone call I've initiated if she wasn't immediately available. That works out just great for me.

I am also on the Island. Do you know what deals they were offering at the mall???????
 
Wow, we love our guide. She has called us on EVERY trip we have booked with vacation points to welcome us home, ask how we like our accommodations, and make sure we are having a great time.

I have to concur with the above. Our guide Ron is great, sending cards, etc and every trip has checked in with us....even if it was just leaving a message on our resort room phone. It is nice to know he keeps tabs on his families like that and takes an interest....
 
My guide Chris called us when we were Home at BCV this month. It's nice to get customer care calls and know that they don't forget us.

My question for those who have guides call them to see if everything is okay while they are "home" at DVC, what happens if you do have a complaint? What power does the guide have to help you?

It's funny that I would read this post today because just last night I had a dream about being at the Doorway to Dreams (no kidding--I am a dreamer). Our guide, Alan, has only called us once in the 2 years we've owned and we even added on! (He wasn't there that day so Kathy helped us with the add on.) Alan called and left a message last week saying he wanted to "see how DVC was working" for us. I wondered if he knew that we've used our points for 2 trips already this year and leave in a few days for the next. I always assumed he didn't because we never heard from him--but from this post, it sounds like he does know. I've always been kind of "jealous" when I heard other DVCers say they "love" their guide and that their guide contacts them regularly.
 
We've been DVC members since 2006.
We've never heard from our guide since.

I assume that he no longer works for Disney.

He didn't try to sell me anything. Never gave me any offers or anything. I wasn't going to buy but he never even asked. Like I said, He wasn't that great of a guide.:confused3
 
Our guide is Glen & he is awesome. Everytime we're "home" he leaves us a voice mail msg. He wants to make sure we're having a great time & if we're staying in a different resort he'll ask how everything is :)

We must have the same guide! We've only had contact with him for our initial buy-in and an add-on. So other than the v-mail message at our resort when we visit WDW we don't have contact. But I know he's there when we are ready for our next add-on! :thumbsup2

To the OP, I've never heard of another guide "taking over " your contract just because they haven't called. If you're not happy, call your original guide and see what the deal is. IMO, if you're happy with your original guide and they still work there, then there's no reason to have to switch to someone else.
