So how's the *food* at Chef Mickey's dinner?

We went to CM's five years ago, and I just can't remember much about the food one way or another. (Maybe that should tell me something.) It was my daughter's birthday that night, and we were all focused on celebrating, doing a cake, etc.

So how is the food quality now for dinner. My older ones (12 and 15) are too old to necessarily need the character interaction. Plus, we're already going to Donald's Breakfast and Liberty Tree Tavern during our trip. My little one (less than a year) is too young to care about the characters.

But, still, my eldest has requested that we go back to CM's on our first night. She has vaguely positive memories of the place, but can't say why.

If it were just up to me, we'd eat at 'Ohana the night of our arrival. But I'm trying to make sure everybody gets input into the trip, so I'm willing to go to CM's. I just don't want to spend the money if the food is going to be really mediocre. Not when we don't especially need the character interaction. I mean, I'm sure it would be a fun way to start our trip, but at 12 and 15 my girls won't be just dying to hug the characters first thing.

So . . . can somebody give me a recent review of the CM's dinner? Thanks very much!!! :)

If your fam were unhappy w your last meal there, wouldnt you remember that? I know I remember not being at all impressed w the food at SCI-FI, and was PO'd about how much we payed for the food (at least double the cost of Fridays etc...) My last trip was a couple of years further back than yours, but I remember what I didnt like. Turkey legs are off my list permanently :crazy2:

Well the food at CM is pretty decent. Ther's a good variety and nothing that is too fancy. I love the mickey ravioli, parmesan mashed potatoes and I remember there being some kind of fish that I liked, salmon I think. There is also a carving station where someone will carve meats for you.

Overall it is a great way to begin a vacation. I just love the atmosphere there. It is so alive, noisy and festive. Oh and where else can you twirl your napkin with Mickey and friends?

It's funny, but I can't remember much about the food either! But I don't remember it being horrible. DD7 always request we eat there so we will be back in august for our first night. The atmosphere is fun, and that is what I think she likes the most - not the food. Plus, if you go there your first night and meet Mickey, then you don't have to look all over the prks for him.

We had one dinner here. We didn't like the food or the dessert 'bar', and found the place pretty chaotic (although lots of restaurants at WDW are noisy!). We've never had any desire to go back. Just our opinion, of course.

We ate dinner there last December. Of course, it was DD6's sixth birthday, so that was what we were concentrating on. It's a fabulous place to celebrate a child's birthday.

The food was good. It wasn't the best meal we had, but I had no real complaints.

To be honest, if your kids aren't into the characters, you'd probably be better off at 'Ohana. We're doing that for dinner in September, and are doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast.
