So, how many people have you convinced to take a Disney cruise

sometimes Raving Fans are the best sales people there are. Just curious how many Disney cruises taken by other people that you are directly responsible for. We became hooked on our very first cruise. That meant we told our adult son, our daughter and her husband. they have each taken 2 cruises since then. Next was a family from church who are now up to 3 Disney cruises. then came 3 coworkers who booked cruises. the in laws finally booked as well as did the sister in law. That would be 12 different cruises that have our fingerprints on them

I'm sure that's a drop in the bucket compared to some of you. Too bad Disney doesn't pay out referral bonuses or better yet - discounted cruises!!!!

People/pax ; 17
Family's .... ; 5
Sailings .... ; 7
Us sail with ; 2

Although in the future I will be reluctant to recommend DCL due to price and whatnot.

And the kids are getting older, so .... we and our friends are moving on to other lines, with more activities for them, is the trend here, fwiw.

Also some of those pax have sailed prior. Some more often then others. Some of our friends want to sample CC. Then they decide whether to continue DCL.

Price penalty DCL imposes, compared to other cruise lines, for those who do their research, and are price sensitive, is difficult to explain.

Good Luck to All

ETA; We definitely talked 8 pax, 2 families to book. They didn't regret it.
If fact, the loved it. Especially now that it cost almost twice as much. lol.
So they are thrilled they did DCL while their kids were young, and before prices spiked. IMO

None. I don't try to get other people to vacation the way we do, as so much of that is based on personal preferences and finances.

Well, we took our (adult) children on a couple of cruises. But I don't know that we "convinced" them to go. We told them we were paying and asked if they were interested.

Not really aware of anyone we've turned to Disney cruising.

If you pay the down payment and/or for a child or two, it is surprising how the family comes around to the mouse. We even threatened to take just the 3 grandkids with us and our daughter said, "no way." She is a huge mouse fan and is now hooked on DCL cruises...one granddaughter even tried to find a way to hide on one of the Fantasy's life boats.

None. Can't convince people to lose an arm and leg. With sports fees, school starting, school supplies, all available money is gone until next Summer.

When people ask for recommendations for cruises, I always suggest Disney. I do follow that up with saying I've never cruised another line. However, none of those people have ever taken a Disney cruise. The cost is a big factor. As it is, I'm pretty sure a lot of people (based on their comments of 'you were just there')think we waste a ton of money on Disney.

In the past, I got two families to sign up for cruises -- but only 4-day ones, and two individuals to sail. But now I wouldn't recommend it as the prices are too high and they'd think I was nuts LOL

[Each of those families only sailed once, and then looked into Carnival or RCCL for their next cruise because of pricing.]

I got 1 family of 4 to join us once. :)
I have tried many others but unfortunately, it's usually the cost that holds them back.

None. People get sticker shock when they visit the website and then say "I can cruise on a 7 day for a price of a 3 day " So I stopped trying to "recruit" anyone and just go and enjoy myself. I KNOW I can cruise for cheaper and I do....DCL is a I guess a guilty pleasure.

After our first DCL back in 2007, four days on the wonder, we booked two cabins a 7 day western caribbean on the Magic while on board. The plan was to bring my parents back with our immediate family of five for our second go around. Well, after sharing our experience and photos with extended family my sister and her family of six booked. Within a few days all 5 of my siblings, their spouses and children were booked to go with us. So that cruise alone had 8 cabins and a total of 26 people from our first DCL experience booked.

Since then my household has done 6 more DCL so a total of 8 DCL cruises.
My parents have done a total of 4.
Siblings have in total done 17.

We have also mentioned our DCL experience to countless friends and cousins. I know of six families who did actually sail DCL because of our recommendations. Who knows how many others have cruised DCL based on our suggestions. I use to be one of DCL biggest cheerleaders. We live close to WDW and are pass holders. We use to wear our AP'S and keep fastpasses in our DCL lanyards worn around our neck in the parks before magicbands were a thing. I can't even begin to imagine the number of people who would see these and ask about our opinion of DCL while at WDW. One question we were often asked was if we thought it was worth the extra money over other lines to cruise Disney? (We have cruised with Royal, Carnival, and Princess.) We use to always say yes. Sadly, I have stopped recommending DCL because I feel DCL has become crazy with their pricing and I no longer feel it is worth the extra cost.

Last spring break my family and two of my siblings families, along with my parents cruised Royal Carribbean's Allure of the Seas. It had been a few years since I had cruised Royal and most of our travel party had only done DCL cruises. Well yes, it was a different experience and we did miss a few things about DCL. Mostly the family friendly shows, Disney Characters, and the longer kids club hours with no breaks. Yet, the cost for my family of five (we need two cabins regardless of which line to make us happy as two of my kids are teens now), was about $2800 less then DCL the same week. Both lines were for veranda cabins. Yes, Royals cabins are slightly smaller, but honestly we didn't find this to be that big of a difference to us. This was Spring Break and peek season. I have no idea what my other family members paid for their cruises, but do know that everyone commented that it was less then what we typically pay for Disney during Spring Break. Even with paying for soda cards that was a huge savings over Disney for my household. We booked early as in about 18 months out. I have no idea what the coast was later but I do know that Disney switched the Fantasy to a Star Wars sailing which inflated the price again over what I was comparing originally. While I completely agree this is not an apples to apples comparison. I can say after it was all said and done my family was happy with taking the risk we did and trying out the other line. Looks like, at least in peak season, Royal is a better fit for us. If Disney prices had not inflated so much, at least when school is out, over the past few years we would have never even consider looking elsewhere because we were genuinely happy with the service and amazing vacation experiences we previously had with them.

Will we cruise Disney again? Maybe, if the price is right or we score a fabulous Florida resident rate. Yet, two of my three children are in High School now which limits us to school breaks, when in my opinion, DCL prices are just plain nuts! I also don't recommend DCL to anyone anymore, because the few I have as of late find out the prices and give me a hard time. It's just not worth the hassle or easy to justify the extra cost anymore.

This is the predicament that we are facing now that our DD is in high school and very involved with band. She is not allowed to miss practices at all so we are limited to very specific times that we will be able to go. Next year we are going directly after school lets out which will probably be the last time for quite a while. I love cruising with Disney, I just don't know how much longer my pocketbook will handle the summer prices without it infringing on other planned family activities :sad::sad:

I told my hairdresser about our cruise not trying to 'sell her' but she just loved the idea when I was saying about our trip. She booked and enjoyed.

Also said to cruisers already going the should if they can afford try conceriege at least once ( then live with the bankruptcy ) but it's real neat. So does upgrading folks and making them sell the family silver count?
