Have seen people post but it, but never actually used it myself.
Do I have to notify the hotel of the delivery ahead of time? Also, if we have Wine, we will have to be present to take delivery, correct?

Thank You,

--Lori

I've had Vons delivered a couple of times. Each time I let the hotel know I was expecting a delivery.

The first time ( Sheraton Park ) I was there to accept delivery
The second time ( HOJO) I was not there to accept delivery, I hadn't even checked in yet due to shuttle delays.

Both times I ordered alcohol so imo, the requirement to sign for the delivery containing alcohol is based on the hotel's policy so I would check with them first. HOJO even put the perishables in our room before we checked in. Excellent service from them!

The first time you order you can get a promo code for free delivery. Approx 2-3 weeks ahead of time you can book your delivery window. Vons offers 1 hour windows, 2,3 and I think 4 hour windows. With your free delivery I think you can choose the 1 hr delivery window. You can load up your e-shopping cart ahead of time but prices do fluctuate based on sales and coupons so finalize your cart when you've secured your delivery time.

We have used Vons twice for grocery delivery and loved it. Both times we were there to sign for it (at FFI and BWPPI) and we used the 1 hour delivery window as pool time while we watched for the driver. I think we notified the hotels, but caught the delivery person before they even got to the front desk. You don't get charged until it is the day of delivery, if I recall correctly. We order drinks, snacks, and stuff for cheap lunches. The selection is pretty good, but not as good as if you went to the actual store to shop. We always have leftovers! So my goal for the next trip is to EAT the groceries, not cram them in with my souvenirs to bring back to Washington...!

We're here and just did this yesterday. It could not have been easier.

I ordered on Friday night, selected a one hour delivery window (5-6 pm) and the driver called my cell phone at 5:10 to say he was here. Very professional, very prompt and quite reliable. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

Great, Thank You for the responses!
I will be doing this in Sept! Great to hear its so reliable!

Lori -- I wanted to speak up here before I forgot! I have to preface this by saying that I have never once had a Vons delivery at a Disney-specific hotel, or a good Neighbor hotel -- so I can't specifically speak to that part of the Vons delivery experience, which is mainly what you need to know and have gotten great answers about in this thread already. But I have been ordering from Vons at home since 2004 or before (I think they changed their computer system after the first times I ordered from them, and then began sending me email confirmations in 2004). I have had well over 130 deliveries from them. I would have had even more deliveries from them, except for the fact that for a couple of years I was also using Albertsons' delivery service (which no longer exists in my area).

I have to say, the Vons delivery service has vastly improved over the years. It used to be very iffy, with constant mistakes and problems with my orders. It has gotten so much better.

The great thing about a Vons delivery is that you have full access to everything in the store. If you have a Vons Club card or account (even just by using your phone number), you can get all of the weekly sale prices on the delivered items. if you have a Vons Just for U account, you can get those savings on top of the regular Vons Club savings. Not only that, but there are also savings and promo codes exclusive to online orders, so you can get the promo code savings on top of the Just for U savings, on top of the Vons Club savings -- depending on what you order, of course, and if it meets the requirements.

Not only can you order alcohol, but you can order flowers (let's say you wanted to set up a nice arrangement in your room), fresh fruit, meat, juices, foods from the deli, soaps and all other hygiene products, aspirin, etc. Anything that you could possibly get in a regular store, you can have delivered. If you're celebrating a special occasion and want to eat cake, you can order a whole cake -- or maybe just some generously-sized slices of cake -- to be delivered with your groceries. You can order a package of cupcakes from their bakery. If you want to eat pie and ice cream, you can order a pint of ice cream and a pie. If you want to order a 24-pack of bottled water, they have that too.

It's really so convenient. I have not needed to order from Vons when I've been at DLR because my stays were never quite long enough, but I swore that if I ever stayed a couple of nights longer I would order a Vons delivery to the hotel.

We used Von's last April and it was great! We stayed at the disneyland hotel and our delivery was there before we checked in. They stored everything for us and brought it up to our room once we checked in. We will be doing this again in September.

May I ask if your delivery included alcohol? We are staying on site for the first time and our order may include a couple of adult beverages :)

No we did not have alcohol we had perishables and lots of bottle water, diapers etc. I believe they told use if we had alcohol we would need to be present to sign for it.

Thank You so much Sherry! We have Safeway here, so I am familiar with their website, I use it to make lists, and ear gas rewards.
So, I can order like the day before we fly out, and it will be delivered around the time we arrive at the hotel? Which will be at or near 3pm.
I have no problem signing for the wine, we are not going to the park that day, just getting settled and relaxing.
Thanks everyone for all of your help!

The delivery site is a bit different from the regular Vons site (where the Just for U info is). But if you have the Just for U account, as well as a Vons Club account, then you would have to add the Just for U savings to your Vons Club card/account before ordering delivery on the delivery site, if you wanted to get those discounts applied to your order. And make sure your Vons Club account is connected to your Delivery account. And then when you're on the delivery site, look for the Online Savings tab, and that's where promo codes are for additional savings.

If you don't want the savings, then bypass all of that and just go to the delivery site!:lmao:

In any case, yes, you can order the day before you arrive (or earlier than that if you want), and just pick the delivery window/time you want -- or whatever is available within the time you want.

Vons/Safeway does not care who signs for the liquor as long as they are 21 or over. Hotels often have policies against it, so call yours and be sure if you might not be present to sign.

We do Von's delivery at GCH and they won't sign for your alcohol.

I added my Safeway Club Card to the Von's online delivery site and it's given me credit each time. The first delivery IS free but if you order $150 worth your delivery is free also. I usually hit $150 if we're staying 4 nights or more.

We love arriving and having our groceries ready. Your perishables arrive in a cooler bag so the hotel knows what to refrigerate.

I'm seriously considering this option (but we need a Costco run while we're there, so we can pick up alcohol there). What kind of things do you order for your stay? We're at PPH Club Level. I'm thinking water... but what else?
