I've spent the last 17 years of my life scoffing at everyone who says Fantasia wrong.

Doesn't everyone know its a 4 syllable word, Fantas-ee-a, not Fantai-sha?

Apparently not.

I just watched my Snow White DVD, and Walt pronounces it the 3 syllable way.

Could this mean that I have it wrong? :o

Anyway, getting to the end of a very long-winded post, how do you pronounce Fantasia?

- Suzi
:)

i say it the same was Fan-tai-sha i dont know thats what i grew up with.

I say it that way too. I've never heard it said with 4 syllables before.

:smooth:

i say it that way too. i think its a british thing to say it with four syllables.......when we watch BBC and the news casters pronounce a word like fantasia the way you pronounce it, we......ummmm......laugh! lol......sorry suzi! lol

A quick survey of all my friends last night showed that all British people pronounce it the (wrong  ) 4 syllable way.

I still think my way sounds better though

i say the three syllable version. i guess i never noticed that on the dvd either.

well i say it the 3-syllable way!

well i woudl ove to hear suzi talk...there were a bunch of UK people at WDW and I would sit and listen to them talk...I could listen to them all day!
they are like talking about ducks and im just amazed! LOL! :D

Fan-tai-sha....thats the way I have always said it....and if it is wrong I'll probably keep saying it that way but I think it is right....right?

How do u know that it isnt pronounced the 3 syllable way? Maybe its pronouced differently outside of DISNEY but when talking about it IN disney, its fan-tai-sha.

FANTASIA IS PRONOUCED JUST LIKE FANTASTIC OR EVEN FANTASMIC THEY ARE ALL WITH 3 SYLLIBLES WHICH IS HOW I SAY IT.

Remember that scene in Muppet Christmas Carol where Sam the Eagle is like, "...you will learn to love...BUSINESS. It is the American way!!!" And then Gonzo whispers in his ear that they're in a Charles Dickens book that is set in ENGLAND, and then Sam goes, "...uh...it is the BRITISH way!!!".

So i guess the answer is when in Rome...or WDW...or London...or...oh, goldurnit!

But...fan-ta-see-ah? I always heard Walt say "fan-tay-sia" and got it like that. But i always thought it was a boring movie anyway. I like the second one better. Gotta love the Gershwin segment...and the flamingos with the yo-yos.
