So how are the dinners at Sci-Fi Dine In??

After reading restaurant reviews, we decided to stick with the basics at Sci-Fi Dine-In. DH had the reuben, DD and I had cheeseburgers, and DS had chicken fingers. Everything was really really good, particularly the onion rings and milkshakes which were really yummy! Would we go back? Absolutely! We loved dining at the Sci-Fi. ::yes::

I've been to the Sci Fi a few times and have never had anything bad. Personally I think the burgers are awesome, pasta is really good and so are the ribs. Now that I've had the burger that's a must for me. Love the onion rings and fries. Someone else mentioned the artichoke dip, it's to die for trust me. I don't know why this place gets such bad reviews, we've never had anything bad from here, ever.

We went at lunch and my husband got a burger. He really liked it and even though I don't usually eat hamburgers I took a bite and it was pretty good. I had onion rings though which were great!

We ate there on our last trip (oct17-24) and loved it. I had the steak and the wife had the ribs. That was our Second trip to Sci-Fi and we will be returning on our next trip to the World. The milkshakes are better with a spoon due to the thickness of the shake. The kids ate pretty good as well. Great Place and Great Food.

We found the food to be mediocre. The burgers were OK, kind of greasy, though. My daughter's meal came with dessert, but they would only give her vanilla icecream, which she won't eat. I don't know why they can't allow chocolate icecream, as they do have it there for the milkshakes. The server wouldn't budge on it. Due to my daughter's peanut allergy, there were no other desserts we could order for her, so none of us had dessert. We would still go back for the fun atmosphere, knowing not to expect a great meal.

Ooooohh!!! We love this place! We all had burgers and onion rings. The milkshakes were delicious too. The ambiance is so fun!

the food is good but I thought it was way overpriced. Sometimes the atmosphere just doesn't cut them making it so expensive. If you are going to spend that much, go to Prime Time.

I always dine at the Sci-Fi. I asked to sub turkey for the beef in the reuben and it was pretty good!

we've gone on a couple of trips...it's a unique kind of atmosphere. The food was good for what it was, as someone mentioned up post the onion rings were really good and the burgers too. I think I had a vanilla shake. Worth a trip if you are in the right frame of mind. (wanting to have fun)

Do they have steak fries like the Plaza? Or skinny ones? Someone said the burgers where the same as counter service, are they like the packaged frozen kind? If so, $12 is too high for me :sad2:

Would a family of 3 seating be odd? Is it bench or bucket in the cars?

I think fitting three to a seat might be kind of awkward, unless the third one is a small child.

I had the beef and blue salad and thought it was really good. My entire family enjoyed their shakes immensely, and thought their burgers were pretty good too.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere. :thumbsup2

There is seating in each car for about 6 people (adults). All seats face the front. So there are 2 in front, 2 in the middle, 2 in the back and all face the same direction. It seems odd but it isn't bad. I thought the hamburgers were better than cs burgers. They were quite good. The onion rings were really good. Yes, you pay a little extra to have a meal sitting in a nicer place, with entertainment and someone serving you. Isn't that normal though? For a table service restaurant this one seems to have some less expensive choices and it is a nice way to relax, enjoy a little entertainment and have a pretty good meal. We went for the first time in September and paid oop. We are returning in January.

We were glad to have tried the Sci-Fi. When reading reviews, I got a bit nervous. However, we both went in with an open mind. We loved the atmosphere, our server was in FULL character (since there were two of us with a family of four, we were hitchhikers :lmao:)
Since we went in August, it was a VERY welcome ressie. Unlike other places, this place is relatively quiet (everyone's watching the screen!). It was a nice place to relax for an hour or so, especially since it was dark, cool & quiet!

Our meal? So-so. My mother had the ruben. She thought it was good, but it came out soggy. I had the ribs. They were tough; I had a better experience with the ribs at Yak & Yeti the day before. (I may have just been disappointed I didn't order the shrimp pasta.) Would we go back? Maybe. There's so many great places in the world to visit... but we wouldn't rule it out. :)

Their fries are thicker, but I wouldn't call them steak fries. They were okay. I forgot that I had planned to sub onion rings when I went there. :sad1:

I thought the burger was more than just a CS burger, but it wasn't the best for me. I had ordered it med-well because I really don't like pink in my burgers, but it was charred, almost too burned to eat. I could have sent it back, but we had already been there too long. DD's pizza was the yuckiest microwave pizza ever. Blech! We went with 3 (me, DD and my mom). My mom sat in front of us, and was totally put-out by having to turn around to talk to us. Of course sitting in the car is part of the atmosphere, but it just didn't suit us. When we first walked in, I was like, "OOh, this place is neat!", but by the time we left I was thoroughly over the darkness, mom not liking it, and the movie clips didn't really do anything for us.

I didn't care for it, but of course you can get a burned burger any time/any place, so I could over look that. The dessert and shake were great! The atmosphere is one of a kind, so you either like it or not. Have to check it out for yourself to know for sure!!! :thumbsup2
