Josh and I were in a hit and run yesterday. Josh was driving and he was awesome. Got us off the road safely and was grace under pressure. There were two witnesses and a third called in with a partial plate number. The cop told us that it was unlikely that the driver would be caught, but I still decided to prosecute. We weren't hurt, but our car was damaged pretty bad.
About two hours after the crash, the cop called us and said that they found him. He was drunk, driving from a party in Austin. He apparently showed up at home , still drinking, lit up like a Christmas tree with parts of our car embedded in his bumper. A FAMILY MEMBER TURNED HIM IN. How awesome is that? God bless this person for doing the right thing.
We are going to prosecute, but since we are not hurt and insurance is working with us, we are not going to try and sue or anything. We just want for this person to think the next time he drinks and thinks about driving. He drove off so fast, he never looked to see what he'd done. God forbid he had killed someone. Josh and I are a bit sore. I'm sad about my sweet pea being damaged, but really, we were very blessed. Josh and I were sitting at home last night with our family and the tree lit up, cats snuggling on our laps, all of us happily spending time together and we just smiled.
