So here's a question I wish I didn't have to ask...

This is tough. I threw a kids party last year and unknowingly one of the children had this. All the kids in that age group, usually under 6, had to be quarantined. It can range from horrible rash and blisters to barely anything. My daughter got it but it was a slight fever for one day. No visual symptoms. It's one of those things that kids get over but you would not want to expose anyone pregnant or older or sick. Going to be tough call, wait as long as you can. If they get the blisters it will take 10-14 days minimally to pass.

If I read correctly, the virus symptoms are mostly skin related, but while he is feeling sick the rash has not appeared? I wonder if it is possible this virus spreads via rash/blisters and since he doesnt have those that may be why the dr approved. I would go and his parents could take him to the room midday or early if needed. Imagine if 2 days after you leave he is fine. I bet he would be heartbroken!

Not according to my doc. Fever would make them contagious without blisters. It was a pain because we were under quarantine for 10 days from first day of fever. Guess it is highly contagious and can be a big deal to spread it to the wrong person. But just going from memory.

He's a tad better. Docto confirmed it is neither coxsackie nor strep so that is good news. Fevers are lower and spaced out further.

Doc continues to state he can go. So he/we/are.

Naturally we will take it slowly. Weather shows hot and we don't even want to know what the crowds are like.

Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and advice!
