so, has anyone ordered the custom park maps?

I saw at the Disney website that you can get customized maps of all 4 parks. They load your favorites on it and include highlights of all of the rides you want to hit. Then they mail them off to you. They say that they are souvenir quality. Anyone take advantage of this? what are they like?

My mom ordered the maps recently for our upcoming trip in January. It took a couple weeks for them to get here. They are pretty cool! They come in a nice envelope. The paper the maps are printed on is thicker than regular paper. It looks kind of beige and textured like a treasure map would. They're in color. They are two-sided, one park on each side. All the attractions you select are marked, plus some suggestions Disney gives you to see. We all thought they were pretty cool, especially for free!

Yeah they are really nice..much better by far then what you get at the parks. Of course the hotel we stay at isn't mentioned on them but that's ok! They are definetly worth ordering!

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago, so far not here yet. I chose to highlight all the attractions that we have never done and want to. I am anxious to get them

I ordered mine on Nov. 15, so its been more than 3 weeks, and I'm still waiting. I hope you don't expect to receive your maps any time soon. I sent an e-mail to the folks who work on the maps to ask if there was a problem and got the following reply:

Due to an overwhelming number of requests for Customized Maps, there a delay in getting your Customized Maps out to you. You will receive e-mail notification when your Customized Maps will be shipped.

If you are leaving for Disney we recommend you print your Customized Maps out at home.

It took at least a month to get ours, but they were worth it -- beautiful maps with clear illustrations, and our kids will love them. Well worth the wait.

I did it a little differently. I did the maps after our trip. I thought it would be cool to have a remembrance/journal of sorts of what we accomplished on our trip. I chose our favorites as what we did when we there. I like the idea of the maps being realistic and portraying exactly what we did and not just what we are hoping to accomplish.

The customized maps are fun but do take a while to get to you. I ordered mine after my trip (or maybe they just came after my trip). They are so nice ... as someone said like treasure maps ... I would NEVER use them in the park. I would just use the ones passed out at the parks. These are not the level of detail that the "real" maps are like. No restrooms or restaurants on them.

Mom2Em == I can't find any WANDS on my map! (Maybe I am just being blind) Can you describe? You don't mean the little Mickey Hands, do you?

Just one more thing. The maps are back to back so two parks on each page. You don't get 4 separate maps.

I like them -- a free souvinier!

I ordered them for my niece a few weeks ago- she still hadn't gotten them as of the start of this week, and they're headed down on Thursday...I still think they'll be neat for her even if she gets them after she comes back...while she's there she's going to have tour guide Auntie Alyssa to help her out

Awesome, I never even saw these previously AND theyre free?!
They'll make a great belated x-mas gift for a family member that went their first time recently and going again soon.

They are 14 x 20 and very frameable. They do have sharp folds in them but hopefully can be pressed out. Others said they were going to frame them and I asked for an update -- have to see if they did it. I just keep mine in the little package they came in ... but someday ... may frame the MK one. One map is an overview of all WDW! That's behind the "letter" to your family and was not customizable -- it has all the parks and hotels on it.

You can order new ones every 6 months. Or if any family member has the same name, you can order others and send to them -- ok I didn't do this but others have so they have all four maps to frame since they are back to back.

They are fun ... and free is the best word of all! (looks like they are taking a while to arrive so don't be too upset at that!)

Me too. I ordered them, and have not received them yet.

Ordered mine the end of October and received them the end of November. I think 4 weeks. They will make a really nice framed map of Parks, but you need to order again when you can so you can have all 4 parks.
