so fusterated at my dh (update page2)

It could be like one of those houses that you see every so often on the news where the environmental people have to come in and have to clean the place up. There are homes like that, that are not safe nor healthy to inhabit from all the rubbish laying around. Those homes are out there, and many times the neighbors of same are surprised when the health department trucks roll in to empty and clean them.

I use to work with a women who never did dishes or clean her house. I didn't believe her until I went to her house one time. I couldn't believe anyone OWNED that many dishes let alone had them dirty, (and she had a dishwasher). I agree, cut off the cooking until the dishes are done!!!

That's a lot of dishes!!!!! I am my own worst enemy sometimes inthat I can' stand too much clutter, so I will pick up. I must admit though, my DH is pretty good with helping when I ask him too.

What does your DH do for a living that he can spend 3 days playing computer games?

Hey I made dinner last nite (just tacos) and me and DD ate...told my DH to clean up after he had eaten....well got up this morning to everything cleaned up BUT the pan full of taco meat.....I don't understand! And then HE is defensive when I get mad! I mean why bother.... Of course his cup was sitting next to the sink too...which sends me into another fit of rage...he has to have "special" obnoxiously large cups that don't fit into the dishwasher (unless of course he lays them on the side which he does on occassion:mad: ) and I refuse to wash them...if he needs special cups he can wash his special cups...sometimes I get soooo made I throw them out! But he always seems to know when that happens and digs them out!!!! He's a pig...I keep yelling...I think my dog learned faster!!!! What is it w/ men (no offense to the clean men out there but realize you are in the minority) The worse part is he refuses to admit he is a slob! I also have the laundry problem....but now he sits them on top of the lid of the hamper!!! I especially like the nasty dirty socks rolled up in a ball...I love to undo them! Okay done venting now!:p

Is the OP for real or are we all being had? I know things like dishes in the sink etc just don't bother my DH but a speck of dust on his car does. It drives me crazy though so I just do them. I can't be bothered wasting my time trying to even the score or prove a point.

Here is the thing...if your dh is consistently refusing to do daily dishes as an agreement then you have to abandon it. As Dr. Phil would say that is a plan of action that is not working!

Sit down discuss the plan of action that will be win-win. In my house we ALL do the dishes together as a family after dinner, including dh and kids.

I also WILL NOT cook if I have dirty dishes either. I need to be able to clean as I cook. Make things a whole lot easier when we clean up after we eat.

Our golden rule in our house is ALL dishes must be cleaned before bedtime. This is just in the last 3yrs we adopted this rule.
It works for us. Find something that works for your family!

There have been some lazy weekends that the washer didnt get unloaded Saturday morning and by Sunday evening the sink is stuffed! My hubby actually does most of the dishwasher duty.

When I was married to my ex we lived in an old house with no dishwasher.. and 3 little kids! I think the worst it ever got was maybe 3 or 4 days without getting all the dishes done at once. And by then I was out of my mind about how many dishes were piled on the sink. I would have to soak some of them first before I could wash them..but to be honest if it ever got that bad my ex would do usually end up doing the dishes. (one of this few redeeming traits).

Well, i got so fusterated at the situation last night i went to bed and .....
I got woken up to breakfast in bed :) and even better the dishes were done :)

:earseek: :earseek:

BUT do you think it will last?? Don't mean to burst your bubble!:yo-yo:

I'm glad I'm not your neighbor. I'd be afraid of the insects and vermin that leaving dirty dishes laying around would entice into the house.

Sometimes I'll leave a pot soaking in the sink overnight, but first thing the next morning while I'm waiting for the water to boil to make tea, that pot is cleaned and put away.

Three weeks of dishes would have pushed me over the edge creating psycho woman. I would throw the dishes on the kitchen floor breaking every one of them and then stormed out of the house. I know that I have some growing up to do but the fury would have been released.
I hope everything is better for you now.

I REALLY hate doing dishes, but I hate even more having dirty dishes in the sink or on the counters.

Kanga, I think we were separated at birth!:teeth: We always agree on these kinds of things! LOL
I cannot stand having dishes in the sink, which is why as soon as breakfast, lunch or dinner are over, the dishes are washed, dried and put away. I am so uptight about dirty dishes! :p

3 weeks worth of dishes, and you're being generous in saying there's that LITTLE?

Ew.

:crazy2:

3 wks worth of dirty dishes is frightening enough but to suggest disposable and styrofoam dinnerware as a solution!

Back button!

Disposable that can be thrown out with the regular garbage is far more sanitary than three weeks worth of filth in the living environment, IMHO.
I assure you that my dishes are clean, and I can hear the dryer drying as I type. My house is clean, but DH and my two sons know that they will help me keep it that way. I am not their maid, and I will not let them be pigs.
(Typed to you on a computer monitor dusted by DH and a carpet vacuumed by DS #1 today.)
