I hope you guys can get the rooms you need! I have a little wiggle room so I will be stalking the site for the next couple days. I knew it would be tough just not quite this hard.

Unfortuntately, no. I was on right @ 8am & the 13th was already gone. Yikes! I guess buy where you want to stay & have enough points for next room level. Booked BW view & waitlisted for standard. My travel dates are flexible so I am going to try again tomorrow. Is it this crazy trying to change resorts @ 7 month window?....it would make me crazy ! Lol

I'm going to try next for the 19th. Fortunately I have enough points to book bW view and wait list. But what is going on? Are so many people walking that it's making it impossible to get std view without walking? And the first two weeks of Dec. will probably be a repeat of Oct.

We own BWV. We booked early October for 2014 and availability was open for a few days past 11 months in standard studios up until around Oct 5 I think, whatever the Sunday is. I'm booked in a 1-bedroom, so no problems, but I was interested in what the studios were doing. I stopped checking after around the 9th.

I know that last year when we were booking for Oct 17 of this year, I was on edge. I had been checking and each day, that first day was gone pretty quick. We got lucky and I got my standard studio, and then another for check in Oct 19 for my brother. Anyone else have any comparisons booking Oct 2013 vs 2014? Is that first day gone in seconds/minutes, or was it not even showing up right at 8am?

We are most likely going back to a studio in 2015, so I'll be interested to see how tough it stays. Good thing though is that if you don't get that first day but put in a wait list, it's very likely to come through as you will be at or near the top of the list.

I looked earlier in October and availability was lasting a day or two for October for a standard studio, but the past few days it's going within seconds of opening. I think it has to do with the Columbus Day weekend mostly. The Monday is holiday is 10/13/13, so with overlap, it's causing a big demand. However, last year I booked my Oct trip on the 19th and the first night was sold out by 8:15am. I thought that was fast, but have been watching it over the past few days, and it's going in seconds. Obviously others have that day booked as part of their trip. I also booked my daughter's trip for Oct. 26th last year and the fist day was available for several days, so no big sell out there. So I really think it's got a lot to do with the holiday weekend and all of the fall activities. Hey, we should consider ourselves lucky. I also own at BLT and this morning not only was the first day sold out, but the 2 days after it, so that would shoot anyone's hope down the drain. Good luck to all!

Is that common for BLT std during October & December? Was possibly considering small monorail resort contract (once I try the resorts) but this may sway things a bit.

I bought a small BLT contract (100pts) just to use to book the standard rooms, though with a small contract I can only do it every other year or more. I've never had a problem getting a standard 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom, but have never tried for a studio yet. I'm guessing October is generally the only time I book that is high demand. My other yearly trips are late January and early May and I usually just do the 7 month window with those. We are thinking of trying to book a standard BLT studio for January 2015, so would have to book that in Febuary 2014, so that will be my first experience doing it.

I had no issues booking spring break (March) or beginning of June after 11 month window & before 7 month window opened. Must be time of year or hopefully just the holiday week... Good luck all

Ok so this was going to be my first time booking, and I am trying to get a 2 bedroom std view BLT for mid October. I looked tonight (since the week I need becomes available tomorrow) and most of the nights I need are already booked Is there any chance at getting a week at BLT 2 bedroom std if I waitlist? I knew it was going to be busy but this is crazy! Are people just walking reservations?? This seems so stressful

I think certain room types are difficult enough for even owners at 11 months to be locked out at least part of the year. That's one of the issues with any floating access system. I suspect you'll have yearly issues if you're set on a Standard view unit. Hopefully you didn't buy just enough points for that alone most trips.

It's only a big deal b/c we invited our friends to go with us. It will be a one time thing since we only bought 160 pts and had extra from 2013 to do something special! It's really not a huge deal but I was just hoping not to dip into 2015 since we only have 160 pts each year!

I'm not really surprised at how busy it is, but I was hoping to have at least a slim chance at trying to get a std room at 8am!

As long as you understand the risk and it's not a yearly need, you should do fine but then the title shouldn't read as it does as there's no reason to be frustrated, only disappointed. Hopefully the WL will come through, you should have a good to very good chance of matching on the WL. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Glad to see availability was still there at 8:10AM this morning. Which does help indicate that the Columbus Day weekend was having a huge impact .... though we pretty much thought that. Makes me feel a tiny bit better since I still have several days before I can book for 2014. Though it still can be stressful. Sadly I get so anxious trying to make these hard to get reservations, you would think I was calling into a radio station to win a car or something......Crazy

The Columbus Day Holiday is becoming very popular - there are many southern schools that have that entire week as a fall break and many more have the day itself as a Holiday.

I am not at all surprised to see that some are having trouble booking standard views (at either BLT or BWV) or the value rooms at AKV for that time. Those are quite limited in number and very popular due to the cost. Members are also increasingly competing with renters for those dates - more renters are willing to commit a year in advance and there are owners willing to accommodate them.

I am 100% sure that Lake View (BLT) & Pool/Garden view (BWV) and non-value view villas (AKV) are still available for owners to book. Of course AKV's Club category is always a challenge.

Hope those who want those villas are successful via waitlist.
