I currently run with a Garmin Forerunner 210. I really love my watch, but I've run into a little bit of a problem since I'm a run/walker. When I run, I set my watch for intervals so that it will alert me each time I need to run and each time I need to walk. And I don't have a problem until it comes to the longer runs...since I only run for 2 minutes and walk for 1, as you can guess, that ends up being a ton of intervals...so the Garmin ends up stopping after 99. I had been told that buying a newer model (specifically the 610) would fix the problem. However, when I began researching that watch, I was told that none of the Garmin watches, no matter the model, go over 99 intervals. So now I'm really frustrated and confused. Has anyone else had this problem or am I doing something totally wrong? I just want to be able to run whatever distance my plan (or race) calls for and to be alerted when I need to run and when I need to walk without having to reset it. Is that possible?

The forerunner 10 will do it. It's even called run-walk and not intervals. Only thing is I've heard battery won't last you if you're looking to do a full. Also,it only displays two things on the screen at a time.

Either of the new models (220 or 620) will do the run/walk intervals.

I got the 620 a few weeks ago and have found no such limit using the run/walk setting. I have mine set at 45 sec walk and 45 sec run and have had no issues even on long runs.

I haven't tried intervals so I can't speak to that but you wouldn't need to use intervals for run/walk with this either of these models.

One VERY annoying thing with garmin is the way the intervals report on garminconnect though. It doesn't break it down by mile. When I called garmin to ask how to have it report both, they said it is a one or the other type thing, so i stopped the run/walk on time and moved to a heart rate pattern

I noticed that also,I wish it had a mile breakdown, doesn't seem like too much to ask! lol

I'm not familiar with the 210 but I ran into this same problem with my 305 and was able to solve it by basically nesting 99 steps within 99 steps. I used the Garmin Training Center software which made it a lot easier.

So in your case, the steps in your workout right now might look like:

1. Repeat the steps below 99 times:
1.1 Go for 00:02:00.
1.2 Go for 00:01:00.

Is this correct?

Try modifying it to look like this:

1. Repeat the steps below 99 times:
1.1 Repeat the steps below 99 times:
1.1.1 Go for 00:02:00.
1.1.2 Go for 00:01:00.

I saved this on my Garmin and just looked at it on the GPS itself and in the workouts, it looks like this:

1. 02:00 No Target
2. 01:00 No Target
3. Repeat 1 to 2 x99
4. Repeat 1 to 3 x99

If your workout looks like steps 1-3 above, try adding the fourth step and see if it helps with your 210!

Someone else had told me about this and I did go in and try it, but evidently the 210 doesn't have this capability.
