I have not been able to get out to do one long walk yet! I am training for the Princess and want to walk/run. The side streets where I live are all insane hills and I got horrible shin splints. So I won't go here. Plus, the ice is a broken ankle waiting to happen. The main roads that are flat have no plowed sidewalks. These are roads I am not comfortable walking on and actually living. With the snow they are narrow and people drive fast.

I am sure someone will say "Oh, well with the proper gear you sure can walk on those dangerous roads during a snow storm in the winter." But I just won't. It is not worth my life to walk 5 miles outside.

I'm just venting. So far all my training has been on a treadmill and elliptical. Sigh. I feel like a hamster.

Be safe out there! A person I know just fell and broke her wrist a couple of days ago. Her WDW Jan Half and Marathon are gone.

Do TM as important to keep cardio and just wait for weather to break. Maybe some pool work to help with non weight bearing exercise would be helpful.

Watch those shins!

I got shin splints last year two weeks before the Princess!! Make sure that you do warm ups specifically for your shins. Then ice after wards. I have been diligent about the warm ups, pretty good with the ice. No shin splints so far and we live in an area of hills! When the weather is bad, I go to an indoor track at the rec center since I can't stand TM. Good luck and hope to see you at the princess. In two days, I'm off to try the Donald Half.
