I loved the music from Rent, but I don't think I can sit through the movie again - I literally cried for most of it, and for ages afterward. Things like that really stay with me.

I can't even bring myself to watch these at all- I watched the real thing on the news. Have no desire to relive it, even on film.

Unfortunately I didn't have a choice, or else I wouldn't have either. We watched them for a class I took a couple of semesters ago. Both were extremely good movies, though. They have news clips in both of them - that I remember watching as it was happening for real - that made it incredibly hard to watch.

Oh gosh yes, I had forgotten that one. One of my friends from college went on a date with a new boyfriend to see that movie! They were traumatized for weeks from that scene.

DD had to watch Last King of Scotland for a college class and it moved her so much she was depressed for a few days after watching it. She described it to me and I was horrified.

Terms of Endearment is one of my favorite all time movies - I've watched it several times!

Rob Roy made me vow never to watch Braveheart except in small doses. I don't like movies with graphic rape scenes. Far too disturbing.

Gladiator is collecting dust on my shelf. Good movie, horribly graphic violence. Made me swear off Saving Private Ryan.

Lost in Translation = just too weird to even understand, was there supposed to be a plot in there?

The Killing Fields

I have close friends who came to our family from a relationship very similar to the friendship in the movie between the American and his interpreter. Despite the fact that our family are all well and thriving here, the stories they told mirrored this movie so closely it was incredibly painful to watch. I watched it when it first came out and have never watched it again. My kids are teens and I was thinking they should watch it to help them understand our friend's history but it pains me to think of watching it again.

EllaM, I didn't get Lost In Translation the first time I saw it, then the second time I really got into it and now love that movie. I also had some moments that felt just like the movie when I first moved to Taiwan I don't know anyone else that likes the movie though.

This movie haunted me, the book it is based on kept me awake at night. I try and stay away from movies that will make me cry- my rule is if I tear up over the preview it's not for me. (I know, I know I miss out on allot of great movies this way)
