Yay! I successfully switched my reservation today to Wilderness Lodge. I love this resort and haven't stayed here in a looooong time. I must say the servers were really wonky. It kept saying "cannot complete your request" but then I'd go back to the home page and it did in fact complete it. Anyway, it's done, I'm excited, can't wait!

We might be further away from F & W Festival but a quick boat/monorail ride will get us there and the kids love riding the monorail anyway.

Anything I should know about staying here? Anything specific to this resort I shouldn't miss?

Thanks.

Buses are a pita with strollers. I try to stay away from them as much as possible.

Take time to relax in the lobby. We absolutely love both the lobbies of the lodge.
Have fun!

The monorail does not go to the Wilderness Lodge. To get to the MK you would take a boat or a bus. To get to the other parks or DtD the bus is your only option.

To get to EPCOT on the monorail you would have to take the boat to the MK or Contemporary, transfer to the MK monorail and then transfer to the EPCOT monorail. This will take much, much longer than just taking the bus from the WL.

Yes I am aware of the travel options. I would go out of my way to take the boat then monorail to not have to take a bus. We also have my father on an ecv with us. I've never been asked to fold a stroller on a boat so didn't know you "had" to. It's never been an issue. If it was super crowded then of course I would do that. But again no cast member has ever asked me to do that.

The smaller boats will definitely require you to fold the stroller. The bigger boats (completely covered ones) will let you go inboard without folding usually unless the boat is unusually busy.

Oh ok that makes sense. We usually travel on the ferry boat between Epcot and BCV and Studios with no issues. Are the boats at Wilderness Lodge smaller than that boat?

Some of them are, especially during the middle of the day. The small boats require you to step down into them and will not accomdate an ECV.

To each his/her own, but with transferring twice it will take you at least 90 minutes to get to/from EPCOT. To get to the Studios or AK your only option is the bus.

Also, keep in mind that some of the boats have steps. You will have to fold up the stroller and they will not accommodate an ECV. I have also never seen an ECV on the boats that you can roll onto. i am not sure if they allow them at all or if my trips just haven't coincided with an ECV rider. i do know that the boat limitations are the reason the WL also has a bus route to the MK.

Also note strollers need to be folded on boats as well.

Actually they do not need to be folded on the large boats at WL. We have a double stroller and are able to walk right on with it.... kids and all. :lmao:

WL is a wonderfully relaxing resort, cozier and more serene than most others. Here's a short list of things to do (I'm sure others will pipe in with other items):
- Get a Hidden Mickey handout from the check-in desk and go hunting
- Sumores around the campfire in the evenings
- Family movie time on the beach
- Watch EWP from the beach (can catch glimpses of Wishes, too)
- Walk the nature trail that begins beside the bike rental or take the paved path that starts near the bus stop and heads over to FW
- Go look at the horses at FW
- Get your caricature drawn in the lobby
- Watch the geyser blow from the pool
- Relax ;)

LOL. I have never been anywhere at Disney that didn't accommodate an ECV, in some way shape or form. He rolls right on every form of transportation we take there. And again, I'm well versed in how to travel at Disney. I've been doing it for 30 years. But I do thank you for your concern about the length of time it will take and for your excellent tips! :)

Sleepy dog... Thank you for your excellent advice on things we can do at WL. That, was exactly what I was looking for. ;)

At WL all the boats don't that is why they also offer a bus.

You may have to wait for the boat that can accommodate the ECV...and we had to fold up the stroller a couple of times...but if you are waiting for the boat to get the EVC on, it will accommodate the stroller...we did see one EVC have to wait, as there were two àhead of them,,,,

True I think there is only a place for one scooter per boat and the smaller boats don't allow them. Also at certain times of the year depending on water levels, the boats don't allow any scooters, and there will be sign saying take the bus.

Yes, this we've definitely had to do before. I can't wait till we don't have to take a stroller anymore believe me. The ECV is bad enough. And my father is having both knees replaced this summer, so we may not even need the ECV anymore. Who knows?!

I do thank everyone for the heads up about the smaller boats. If we have to wait then we wait. Or if we have to take a bus, then we'll take a bus. If you knew my family though, they would rather travel for 90 minutes than get on a bus. LOL.
