but when I opened the dishwasher to grab a glass I noticed a layer of foam in the bottom. I asked him which detergent he used, and he used the proper stuff. But then I noticed that a full bottle of dish soap was no longer full. Long story short - He put dish soap in the jet dry reservoir :scared1: (I know that's not the correct term, but I can't think of it right now). He feels stupid, but all I could do was laugh. Anyone have any ideas on how I fix this?

:lmao:

I'm sorry that I don't have any ideas on how to fix that other than just running very hot water in there it until it's no longer sudsy!

Your poor DS will probably not be doing dishes for a while....sorry! :rotfl:

I know, it's too funny  Poor kid, he was just trying to help. I think the water thing sounds like a good idea though.

i did that once before! i was very young and we had recently gotten the dishwasher. we had run out of the dishwashing detergent, and i decided that the hand-soap was just as good. our kitchen floor was flooded with bubbles! it was such a mess.

My hubby did this once.
We had to scoop the majority of the bubbles out using a bucket and then just ran a short cycle.

Congrats to your son for helping out around the house:rotfl:

I'd run the dishwasher a couple of times to rinse it out, as long as there's not going to be a soapy explosion!

like others have said, rinse out the reservoir. Also to help with the foaming, the guy who fixed our dishwasher once said that bleach cuts the bubbles.

My youngest DS did this once. We just kept filling it with water, ran it without the top.

It all turned out okay. DH took apart the dishwasher and removed and rinsed the reservoir and then I set it to rinse for a couple of cycles. No big drama, just kind of funny.

Thanks for sharing, that's funny, at least he was trying to help!

LOL reminds me of my college days. 4 girls in one apartment, we ran out of real dish detergent so thought for sure dish soap would be just as good. TONS of bubbles later and a big mess to clean up , we learned a good lesson. The apartment maintenance guy had a good laugh and told us to run it again without any soap till all suds gone.

DH just did this a couple of weeks ago. Salt, table salt, lots and lots of it. Sprinkle it in the bottom of the dishwasher. It helps dissipate the suds. Then run a cycle with some white vinegar -- just leave the suds and salt. You may have to do the salt and vinegar thing several times to get rid of all the suds.

I just hope this little incident doesn't discourage DS from doing the dishes in the future . . . :rolleyes1
