Hey all, as you can see I was suppose to be leaving on vacation tonight. :scared:
We were all set to go ,even had free dinning and a moderate hotel, which we normanlly can't swing and we had to canceal. My husband crushed his arm in a forklift this past August. He is recovering but still in a lot of pain as well as going to therphy 3 times a week, so vacation needed to be cancealed. The kids, my husband and I were so looking forward to this trip. We had booked back in April and have been counting down until the day we were to leave.
I am so greatful that I have kids who know that Daddy being ok is the most important thing but how can anyone expect them not to be alittle down about not going after so much planning? Any suggestions on how to make it easier on us all would be great. As you may have guest, money is low as well as my husband spirits. He feels sooooooo bad that we had to canceal due to his injury, not that anyone blames him but he blames himself. I am requesting good thought, lots of prayers and a ton of pixie dust from all of my friends out there and please say alittle extra prayer that we get to make the trip sooner then later. Thanks all.

What an absolute bummer, but your right, your hubby being on the road to recovery is the most important thing.
Do you have any time frame at all where you can at least start planning a make up trip?
How about in Jan or Feb. where rates are pretty low?
Granted, no free dining, but it would give you someting to plan and keep busy with!

Good luck

Oh no, what a major bummer, to say the least! That sounds like a horrible injury. I hope your husband will eventually have a complete recovery. It sounds like you are all taking it as well as you can.

Would it cheer you up to maybe have a Disney party? You could make mouse ears to wear, or dress in Disney costumes if you have any, and make Mickey pancakes or something like that, and watch some of your favorite Disney movies...of course it wouldn't be the real thing, but it might be fun anyway! :) I bet there are lots of other fun ideas that people could suggest!

:grouphug: pixiedust: Everything will work out in the end. This is only a detour. My family and I will say some prayers for your husband and your family before we go to bed tonite. Good luck !! :thumbsup2

I can understand how hard it would be to have to cancel my upcoming trip. I'm glad your husband is on the mend and that you have understanding kids. I agree with frifly to keep the disney spirit alive this week in your household because you had free dining im sure you had ADR's why not make those dishes at home that you would have had. I'm sure the recipes would be somewhere on disboards and you could involve the kids by having them make disney signs of the place you would have eaten or even the parks you would have visited. Such as if you had adrs for crystal palace for breakfast make a full breakfast for you and your family and have the kids, you and your husband put up pictures of magic kingdom, crystal palace and pooh and friends. We use to do this with my neice and nephews when we were planning our annual trips.

I will keep your family in my thoughts.

I am sure your DH feels as badly as you do--if not more so! Here's to a speedy and complete recovery:hug: Things will eventually get back to fiscal normalcy and you can plan a new Disney adventure.:wizard:

Oh, I am so sorry...But, I believe that God has a reason for this delay. I will keep you all in my prayers. I agree with the others, do Disney Movies etc.
Prayers for continue healing for all of you

Disneydreamer5, I am so sorry for your husband's pain and all of your troubles.

I just thought of something that may help--when you've visited WDW in the past, did you bring a video camera, digital or film camera? If so, get out those old videos and watch them with the family! If no videos, make a slideshow of the digital photos, or get out the old photo album and look at the great times you've had there in the past. Maybe it'll spark some fun memories you haven't thought of lately and give your husband something to laugh about.

Hang in there!

You definitely can use a :grouphug:

I am hoping and praying that your DH gets through this quickly and that you and your family can start to plan your next trip and get there and forget this horrible time.

Anytime you need cheering up, we are all here for you.:goodvibes

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: to you and your family. you're all in my prayers - especially your hubby that his arm heals well and quickly. how about watching some disney movies and eat some popcorn and re-plan your much needed, at this point, vacation? in any event, keep your chins and your spirits up, disney will be there waiting for you. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry, and hope your DH is better soon. Involve your family and begin
the rescheduling and planning as soon as possible! That will be a huge boost of fun for everyone, and would probably make you all feel better! We had to cancel our trip the day before we were to leave this June due to DD15 coming down with mono and swollen liver and spleen. She was so disappointed, but is all better now and we are staying twice as long next year!:goodvibes

Throw a Disney party--- I know you aren't there and that sucks, but you sound like you are hoping to go sometime... in the mean time, break out all the disney things, make a great meal, listen to disney music, watch movies, to put you in the disney spirit, bring disney to you!!!! the magic is in you!!!:wizard:

I know exactly how you feel. My DH cut the tendon to his index finger in the back of his hand this past Aug. Lots of pain before and after the surgery, and physical therapy twice a week. We've not had to cancel our trip for Jan 08 yet, but the talk of downgrading from the WL to a mod has come up. Sending your DH wishes for a speedy recovery and to you for extra patience as you help him with the day to day activities like tieing his shoes. So to your family, from a family who understands:
:grouphug: pixiedust:

Hope he get better soon, then take a quick vacation you all will need it.

Oh no! I hope your husband recovers fully very, very soon.

I don't have much advice on how to make the Disney blues go away. Anyone would be bummed in that situation. I think I would just try and plan for another trip during a cheap time of year, do a value resort and hopefully spend a similar rate. The Disney fever will build up again and this disappointment will be a distant memory.

Hang in there!

I know that having to cancel is a real downer! And I know you know that you are grateful to God that the injury wasn't worse! But, you still want to go to WDW! Just start planning another trip now. That always gives me something to look forward to. I am 61 and have arthritis in my knees very badly. I am facing surgery sometime the beginning of next year. I am planning a trip for Dec. 2. this year even with all the pain. That is why I am waiting to have the surgery! I hope that I will be well enough to go next December, I can't stand the thought of having to recuperate, but I will have the other knee done when the 1st one is well enough. So I may not be going back til '09. :sad1:

Just be glad that you are still young and have many trips ahead of you. This will be my 19th trip.

Best wishes and God bless you all!:grouphug:

I feel your pain. We had our trip planned for over a year. My DH's aunt and her kids/grand kids were going to go with us. (total of 13 of us) My DH blew out his knee and has been off of work since early August. He is going in for surgery on Thurs. We had to cancel our trip too. If we didn't have to cancel we would be at MGM right now.
My prayers are with you and your family right now.
Keep the faith you will make it back to WDWpixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
