So - do you plan to buy CRV?

An occasional stay using my other points at the 7-month window is about all I'd be interested in.

Very good advice to buy this. Example is you maybe only want it for certain times or to be near MK, then you can use the left over points at the resorts that seem to always have vacancy at 7 months anyway. At the same time you have a high demand property most likely to increase in resale value and the extra years on the contract as well.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. DVC at AKL, different story.

Me Me ME!!! Oh would I want the Contemporary- especially as a high rise----

Even if I could only buy 25 or 30 points, I would want them---- I might sell BWV and rebuy CRV if I had to.

Jacky
200 BWV
(thinking of adding on 25-30 SSR- waiting for guide to call me back)

This is our current point status:

OKW 190
BWV 150
BCV 160

We would like to sell 50 OKW points and buy 50 CRV points. With banking and borrowing I think that would work well. That would leave us with:

OKW 140
BWV 150
BCV 160
CRV 100

If they then announce an AKL DVC a few years later we'll definitely be in trouble! :rotfl2:

We'll definitely buy CRV. I'd like at least 50 points, but we'll wait and see the prices and point structure and then decide.

I'll have to make my decision after I see how much per point and what the point charts look like. If it takes an insane amount of points to stay there...I doubt very seriously we would do it as we'd be just as happy staying at other DVC resorts that allow our points to go farther.

Not for me. I've never had any desire to stay at the Contemporary. I do too much business travel and big boxy hotels have lost their appeal on me. I like vacations to feel different.

However, DVC at AKL, that has my interest. While if I were to consider any add-on right now I'd pick BWV or BCV (and am hoping all those excited about CRV sell some of their smaller contracts to rush to CRV), I do really like the look and feel of AKL. Also interested to see if anything ever happens on the West Coast.

...My DH is completely in LUV with AKV and would balk at buying anywhere else. I am completely in LUV with VCR/CRV and don't want to buy anywhere else. We're in trouble!

Buy both :goodvibes

Not sure yet. We will wait to see the buy in price and maintenance fee structure.

HBC

Put us in that category as well.

Currently we are in a no buy position.

I had some interest until I saw the design concept of CRV :sad2: which got a thumbs down at our house. Not into big high-rises with views of itself.

If another design is used we might consider buying but not likely.

I agree with many. This would be the first DVC with no real theaming. I don't like that trend. Theaming is what sets Disney apart from other timeshare companies. If I want to stay in a highrise condo, I will go to Miami Beach. I am waiting for the DLR DVC to be announced at the same time.

I definitely will buy- even if its just enough to stay in a studio for 3 or 4 nights!!!

The location is just awesome and together with my BWV points, I'll have the best of both worlds !! :wizard:

DS is only 18 mos and MK is a big stop on our vacation plans. I have also loved CR since I stayed there when it was just CR and Poly back in the 70's...it was the COOLEST thing to me!!!! I think we would sell our 100 points at WVL to buy CRV...hope the points aren't way too high per night so that 100 will buy us a decent stay. I imagine it will be TOUGH to get into at the 7 month window...

absolutley NOT!!! have spent too much of my working life amid the hi rises! moved to the jersey shore to get away from that scenery. dh and i now live just a one mile walk from the ocean and beach, mom has a beach house ON the beach and dh and i own a vacation home set below the trees across the street from a 13 mile pond in maine [no street light or traffic lights in the town there!]

we currently own 255 pts at ssr and will likely buy 50/75 pts at vwl sometime in the next 3 years before i retire.

I agree with waiting to see the initial $ cost as well as the point structure.

However, if these come in at a worthwile number, I would do a minimum addon. My DW and I are expecting our first child in the begining of Nov. Being able to stay a few days close to MK in the begining of a vacation before moving to another resort could be very convinient with a little one.

Not us. I don't like the high rise idea and I don't like the location all that much. We may stay there once over the years, but won't buy there.

besides...we are going to be in our late 70's when our current contracts expire...we don't need anything past that.

1) I have owned OKW since 1992.
2) We have stayed at all the DVC resorts except VB
3) I will let others buy VCR (or CRV).
4) My personal thoughts are
. . . keep the stinking high rise
. . . doubt theming can be that good for just a building, not a whole resort
. . . not worth the high point value just for the monorail

Years ago we looked into buying a DVC but their locations did not interest me.

I told DH we should buy into DVC if and only if a DVC is built with access to the monorail.

So if they build a DVC at the Contemporary please count me in!
