I would be especially interested in hearing from those who have done different plans.

I'm thinking this may be a good idea for those who want a more free flowing trip.

Are you getting your monies worth with it?
I'm still thinking the best value is the basic dining plan, but I would like to know how feel.

Are you doing OOP more with this plan like doing TS meals anyway or more snacks, etc?

Let's say that we go for 6 nights...x 30 = 180

The mug is 12 I think and is is 1 time charge. 180-12= 168

Snacks are 4.00x2 per day =8 per day x 6 days = 48

168-48=128

128/6 days = roughly 21

So each meal has to equal roughly 10.50

I think each person spending 10.50 for a QS meal is completely doable and if you order a larger meal at say Cosmic rays- you could spend even more. However, I don't think that the plan would really offer more than a 5.00-7.00 savings for us per day. Granted- if you are a family of 4, over 6 days that's 120 bucks saved.

I just think we save more on the basic ddp.

I'm planning on trying the QSDP in March when I go. I think we'll be able to make it work. There are many CS restaurants - where you can certainly get your monie's worth. And if we end up with leftover snack credits - we'll just pickup stuff - and take it home with us. That way the MAGIC can continue one.

Since the QSDP just started on the 9th - I would expect we'll hear some info /news from others in the next week or so - HOPEFULL!

:cool1:

We are thinking about doing it but mainly because the kids price is a good deal and we will have 2 kids on the plan and one under 3. At $8.99 each that price fully covers their 2 CS meals (at $4.49 a piece roughly) AND then they get 2 snack credits ($3-$4 value) each making our net gain $6-8 per day per kid not including the mug. I plan to use some of their snack credits to feed my 1 1/2 year old. I will also like each kid having their own refillable mug at our resort so that if we eat in the food court, their "drink with meal" will be milks that can get passed on to the baby while they get Apple Juice etc with their mugs.

I think the $29.99 price per adult is a little steep and if it were just my dh and I and we were not able to realize a benefit with the kids plan, we probably would not do it.

I had the same reasoning...for my husband and I it's really not much of a savings (if any) but you do get a break when it comes to the kids. I think Disney planned it that way.

I was hoping to hear some feedback about it before we leave but it's too late to drop it from our package at this point anyway! We'll be using it the 24th-31st and I'll report our thoughts on it when I get home:goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi to another MD'er--we'll be down 1/26-2/2. I'm almost sold on using the QSP at this point for the same reasons posted above, not a huge value for me, but with the kiddo, it's worth it, as long as we can find some decent kid food.

Hope someone will be back with feedback in the next week or so to let us know how it goes!

We are planning on doing the QSDP on our next trip. For us we think it will be a "break even" deal on what we would normally order. We usually don't order dessert with CS so we didn't figure that into our calculations. We also always buy a mug for the food courts. So this plan gives us the freesom to order what we want, including dessert when we want it, without having to worry about it being too espensive.

We booked the QSDP for our March trip more for convenience than savings. If we save, then GREAT, if not then we will just enjoy having most of our meals prepaid before the trip and it means carrying around less cash AND charging less to the room. Last year Disney made a HUGE error on our room charges.

My two kids are adults (12 adn 14) so for us, this plan isn't great. I don't want to have to be stressing finding cs places where our meal would be expensive enough to make me feel like I am not losing money. So for us, the regular DDP is better. But if my kids were under 10, I'd be on it in a heartbeat. I was surprised this plan was only $10 a day less than the basic DDP. Even with the two snacks and mugs, it didn't feel as good of a deal as I had hoped. But that's just me. If it was just me and my husband or the kids were younger, I'd feel very different. My 12 year old dd, ends up getting some hot dog meal pretty much everywhere, so we'd totally lose money!

:wave2: Hi right back atcha! You're the second MDer I've found on here going around the same dates-great minds must think alike!:thumbsup2

I also took it for those reasons too. We don't always do dessert or always have 2 snacks a day so it's a bonus. Plus it's nice knowing it's all inclusive and we don't have to worry the whole time we are there about what we are spending on food and having it charged to our room.

I'll be sure to report back after we return! Only 9 more days and let's face it, today is just about done so I'm going to call it 8!!!!

I looked into it for our family of 3 adults (well, in Disney's eyes my 11 year old son is an adult:rotfl: ) and when I priced out the quick service dining plan and the regular dining plan, the difference was just $200.00. I would much rather spend the extra $200.00 and be able to do table service meals each evening.

We went to Disney this past August without the dining plan and, since we were on a semi-tight budget, we decided to stick with counter service meals for our entire seven day stay. Let me tell you......I have never been sooo sick of eating counter service food. We tried lots of different places but still, counter service food was getting old by the time we ended the vacation.

I normally do the basic dp but if we go the dp way on our next trip ( hopefully this year!) we will use the qs. I always buy a mug and drink my orange fanta lol This will most likely be only my husband and myself and we don't want to take the time for sit downs with the exception of maybe the last night. I always like the idea of prepaying and not wondering how much to budget it for food, and honestly, the 2 snacks per day work out great for us. Husband doesn't snack much and with the 3 of us in December on the night before we left, I had 13 out of 18 snack credits to use up. I got some mickey chocolate bars and a few bags of chip n dale pretzels, several krispie mickey heads along with the coconut mickeys. I just got done my last bag of chip n dale pretzels and we've been home 25 days so extra snacks will help me take some treats home and prolong my disney experience! :cheer2:

You know I was looking for advice on this very topic. I never thought about getting sick of counter service meals and now i have. Thanks for helping me with advice. I too like having a Table service meal each evening. I was just seeing if the QSDP would help save us some money! I will stick with the regular DP!!! Now i will wish for free dining!:lmao:

If the quick service plan had saved us significant money, then I would have purchased it and just paid for a two or three table service meals out of our pocket. But, with it being such a nominal difference in price, I decided to stick with the regular dining plan.

I was figuring that with the QSDP I could still do a table service(we want chef mickeys & t-rex) and pay oop but with the amount i figured we'd spend at each place(at least 80 at each place), it is just worth it to do the regular one and pay for t-rex oop.

We are doing the Quick Service DDP next week, so I'll be back to tell you how it went!

My reasoning for doing it is mostly out of convenience ... and a bit of savings. We don't normally buy desserts ... or many snacks, for that matter, so these are the bonuses. We have 2 children, 14 and 11, and I think this plan will be great for us -- we can choose as we go.

We did the basic DDP last time and though I loved every minute of the TS meals, my kids did not. Too much time away from the action. :)

I've printed out menus and plan to take them along each day. This way we can somewhat plan ahead -- an hour or so -- depending on what we are hungry for and what area we are in. We've already had the discussion with our kids that while cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets are okay once in a while, we WILL be trying other selections as well. ::yes::

I love having most of it prepaid! It's the best way to relax on a vacation, IMO. :thumbsup2

We are doing 2 character meals and using our free $200 gift card -- that's FREE food to me! I didn't even figure it into the meal plan equation. Plus, with the DDP now tips are not covered, and that could add up to quite a bit of OOP expense. With QS DDP, you don't have to think about gratuities!

And, hey, ANY meal that I don't have to cook is a good one in my book!

You and I are thinking alike--we probably could save a little over the cost of the plan by ordering less than what you get on the QSDDP, and doing breakfast in our room, and bringing our own snacks. But it wouldn't make for a very relaxing vacation, always having to calculate, and share meals (which we'll probably still do--but because we want to, not because we have to), and say no to most snacks and desserts.

The QSDDP is a way to have a budget and be able to stick to it without feeling deprived. We're going to do the same thing you are--check out all the menus and know what places we'd like to try to make sure we have a big variety of tasty food.

Having everything entirely prepaid (as you pointed out, no gratuities! and a $200 gift card for extras!) is the icing on the cake. It means coming home to no bills at the end of the trip--I've never done that before!

We were talking about doing the QSDP for our next trip so we kept a closer eye on what we wanted to eat and what we did eat while we were there. We just got back. I'm not sure if the plan would be good for us. Actually I really don't know too much about it. What do you all get per day for Adults and Children?

We don't really eat too much and would rather snack throughout the day. But next year with the baby we will probably have to slow down a little bit. I can't decide. But I do know that my 11 year old eats less than my 4 year old at times so paying for an adult for her would be a waist.
