So disappointed in Cabana Bay - Room not cleaned properly

So disappointed in Cabana Bay. We checked in tonight. The room was not properly cleaned. On one of the side tables, there was water on the table and hair. There was also hair in the microwave and yucky hairs on the toilet. We also found that there was dripped soap on the back of the tub, where there was not a soap dispenser. It also appeared that the pull out bed had not been remade. One of the hand towels in the bathroom was damp (as though someone had used it).
I think the cleaning crew, in a hurry, did a very cursory clean and left a lot to be desired.
We complained and they said they would send someone up to reclean it, but we had to be out of the room. I asked to be there when they arrived to point out the problems, but they wouldn't let us.
We went to dinner, and when we came back, about 1/2 of it was fixed, but it still wasn't cleaned properly. They had cleaned the toilet, the table, and the pull out bed. The tub had not been recleaned, the hand towels had not been replaced, and the hair was still in the microwave.
We just dealt with it, but will not stay here again.
The offered us a free meal, but I don't know where that can be used (my guess the Bayliner) nor have they told how to redeem this.

One more night here and then we move to AKL.

Has anyone else ever experience this before?

We've stayed at CBBR twice - once pre-COVID (Sep 2019) & once post-COVID (May 2021) and both times are rooms were spotlessly clean upon arrival.

So sorry for this rough start to your trip :(.

Maybe others who have been more recently can chime in to see if this is a trend or (hopefully) a one off.

Sadly we had a similar experience at RPR back in September: dust still everywhere (they failed the Pete Werner dust test), hallways outside the room not being cleaned to the point we were dragging in dirt, bathroom sink oddly not having good pressure but the showers being fine.

At one point my dad went to sit on a chair near check in and immediately got up because it was sticky.

Even after complaints, nothing seemed to be done. It was out first stay at a UOR hotel too. There were other issues as well, some we do not blame the TMs for at all.

My parents have no desire to stay on property. If i do , it wont be at RPR

Your Pete reference made me laugh because I just recently saw the show where he took his mom to Boulder Ridge.

Sorry for the terrible state of the room, OP. I used to always bring cleaning wipes with me pre-covid. I sorta got out of the habit since I was more into keeping my kids hands clean and didn't want to bring so many wipes. I guess it's smart for me to go back full throttle.

Sorry for the bad experience there. We stayed 1 night in June, but just a regular room, and it was very clean. no issues. Likely wont' stay there again though due to noise, small rooms, room layout, but no cleaning issues at all.
also no issues checking in. We checked in at 7:00 am, no wait, took about 5 mins. and room was ready. sorry that was not a good experience either. Hope AKL is great! Enjoy. I love staying there.

Sounds like we were an unlucky one-off. It does happen.

Yes, it shouldn`t happen at all and is not acceptable. And the fact they came back to redo it and it still wasn`t clean is even worse.

I believe they may still have a shortage of housekeepers and some are supply staff, not full time hotel employees. So if it`s the regular housekeepers day off, you may have got someone who may not have the same standards.....just a guess though.

In all our stays at Royal Pacific or Sapphire we`ve never had anything out of place in the rooms or with housekeeping. If there was a serious problem with housekeeping I`m sure we`d have had something, but we haven`t.

I am sorry you had such a negative experience there though, that shouldn`t happen.

We stayed in late May and it was not clean. There were also roaches in the hall (I assume because people leave their trash in the hall since housekeeping doesn't come). Housekeeping is supposedly back, but we did not get any 2 out of the 3 days we were there.

Sorry you had that issue, that shouldn't have happened :(

Cabana Bay is honestly my wife's & mine favorite hotel (probably stayed there 6+ times so far since 2016) and always try to hype it up to others. I would feel the same way if this happened to me. Not acceptable that you had issues and that you sadly still had issues afterwards.

It's now the next day, but I'm hoping today went a little better

We saw dead roaches in the lobby areas and bayliner area near the elevators.

We never got the room issues fully resolved, but were only there 2 days. We moved over to WDW and are now at AKL, which has been wonderful.

I did see someone there our last day cleaning that had on a uniform that was not Cabana Bay. It was some other company, so maybe this is the issue. Maybe they have been subcontracting.

I have stayed there for 3 week-long trips. June 2021, March 2022, June 2022. No issues with cleanliness.
Sorry that happened to you, OP!

As someone who is allergic to roaches (weird I know was a shock when the bumps came up on my allergy test shots) and also just afraid of 99% of insects in general (the tough to be a bug friends at DAK not included) I would have raised holy hell!
