So depressed-only daughter moving to FL

My youngest is probably leaving in the fall for Ohio to go to college. Her sister already lives there. Empty nest for us this fall. I will miss them but you have to let go sometime. One good thing is it will get our animal count down to 2.

If my DD does this she's getting a place with a guest room and I'm renewing my AP :mickeyjum

My kids started needing me less and less as they became older-I was always the Chauffer to ball games & my life really revolved around them , not me.

So what I started doing is taking classes at the night "fun" division of the local University. It has brought lots of fun and opportunity to me transferring my artsy craftsy classes into career oportunities. :)

My ds moved to Florida last Sept...knew just one person there, had no job. He packed up his car with all his eartly belongings, except his cat, and made the drive over 3 days. Got there, moved in with his one friend, and his wife (who he found he didn't get along with!!). By Oct he had found a great job, he moved into his own beautiful apt the weekend after Thanksgiving, I flew his cat to Orlando, where he picked me, and the cat up, dropped me off at BWV and continued the drive back to Tampa!! He has met a wonderful girl, who has moved in with him. We spent a few days with him last month.
I was so sad when he left....he may have been 33 but he was my baby boy!!! But, he is incredibly happy, has a great job (several promotions since he started), has a wonderful gf, and they are talking about buying a house in the near future!!! Wonder if there will be an announcement this fall??!!
anyway...try not to be sad or worry too much. After all...your dd is going to a place you both love. Think of all the fun you'll have visiting her. But, it is hard seeing them go off on their own. :grouphug:

After I graduated from college, I took a job teaching out of state where I didn't know anyone. I knew my mom was upset but she didn't really say anything to discourage me from moving. It wasn't until I decided to take a job closer to home a couple of years later that she told me she was sad when I left but she was also proud that she had raised a daughter who was so independent. It really meant a lot to me to hear this from my mom. Whenever I'm unsure of myself or my decisions, I think back to this statement.

I understand. My only daughter lives in Portland,OR and I'm stuck here in central Pa. I have two sons and the youngest lives in Manassas,VA and the oldest son did live in Malvern,PA a suburb of Philadelphia. He and his wife just moved to Apex,NC with our first and only grandchild! That hurts! Now we must travel 9 hours to visit our little guy. There are days when I wish they were still little and home with me ! There is email and the phone so you can still stay in touch and be glad she is so independent. Take care,
DC
