So Dear to My Heart
Few would argue Walt Disney was the best at combining live-action animation. This 1948 classic is another film of this type. Disney star Bobby Driscoll plays a young boy who raises a black lamb and along the way learns about dedication and selflessness. The movie is highlighted by Burl Ives' singing of the Oscar nominated song, Lavender Blue. Harold D Schuster directed the live action sequences. Hamilton Luske directed the animation scenes. I had heard a review of this film claiming it was boring. I was never bored but then again I've been told I'm an old soul. This is pure Disney and I have to give it 3 1/2 rocking chairs out of 5.
