So confused! Some help, please?

Hey! Today is the day that we're supposed to pay off our vacation package and now that the new discounts have appeared I'm very confused. As of now, my family will be at Port Orleans-French Quarter from October 2-9 with the free dining package. Initially I chose the POFQ due to the seemingly good bus situation, small resort size, and dining options available (at both PO resorts and DTD). With two small kids (1 and 5) I figured it would be an ideal fit. Now, with the new room only discount, it could be possible to upgrade to the Wilderness Lodge for a couple hundred dollars more. Those of you who have been to both (or either one), what advice to you have for me? Thanks so much!

I'm no help since we have stayed at both and liked both . But I would pick WL if given the choice.

I've stayed at PO when it was formerly Dixie Landings and at WL several times. While both resorts are great, if you can spend the little bit of extra money WL will offer a lot of conveniences over PO. At WL everything is contained in the buildings, so restaurants are a quick walk from the room (great if the weather isn't cooperating) vs. PO where all rooms lead directly outside. You also have the water shuttle right over to the MK which is wonderful and relaxing (and the MK is probably where you will spend a good chunk of your time), we're not ones who liked wrangling strollers and kids on a bus (always ended up renting a car). My oldest also loved the geyser and WL beach when we stayed there when he was a toddler, the electric water parade was also great to watch from the beach there (not sure if that still goes by the area since it's been a few years). At PO (formerly DL for me) there was a little walk to the food court and pool area from where we were located, which was fine, but when you wanted a quick refill on a mug it's wasn't as easy as hopping down to the lobby. Nothing about PO is a deal breaker though and if the couple hundred dollars spend on WL could be used for character dining or elsewhere on your trip then use it where it makes sense, but if it's worth getting a little bit of extra convenience than go for the upgrade.

I have stayed at both POFQ and WL and I really like them both for different reasons. I'd have bought DVC at POFQ if it was offered.

If I am reading your post correctly is appears that for a few hundred $$ more you could stay at WL (on a room discount), but you would then loose your FD.

If that is the case then stay with POFQ and keep the FD. Free food and saving $.... the scales would tilt towards POFQ for me.

With 2 little ones and a stroller, I would definitely suggest WL for the ease of going to and from MK.. especially returning to the resort for afternoon naps which I'm betting you'll want

BTW, I also love POFQ But navigating two small children and a stoller on the bus can't compete with the boat transport at WL..
