so confused about SWA ~ can anyone help me?

I heard dates are going to open up on Thursday (we are going in September).

My mom is sending DH and I gift cards for SWA. I would like to apply them towards our September trip.

Say a ding or lower rate comes out (after I have booked). Do I call SWA and make the change and then get a credit? I just hate for the times we want to sell out, but I'm pretty sure a ding or something will come out after I book.

Yes, if a lower fare comes out after you have already purchased your tickets you can cancel the first flight and apply the credit to the second. Anything left over will be good to use for future travel up to a year from the *original* purchase date. I have always done it myself instead of calling.

Do you usually have to change your flight times, or does the lower rate work for what you already have scheduled?

It really depends on what's available. You can apply the credit from the cancelled flight towards anything at all...it doesn't even have to be the same date or destination.

You cannot book a DING! fare over the phone, either as a new booking or changing to a lower fare. At least that has been my experience.
