People I know tell me there isn't much to do or see and you can get it done in a couple hours. Then people on this board say there is so much to see and I better make sure I do a full day there. What gives???

There are several attractions in Epcot Future World. Then severeal countries that have their own entertainment. It depends on how much that you want to see of everything.
I would go to allears.net and check out attractions for Epcot.
Also, what are the ages of your children?

It's all a matter of tastes. Some people are all about the rides- there aren't many at Epcot. If you are someone who loves to take the time to enjoy all the little details, you can easily spend 2 days at Epcot. One thing I just love about Epcot is all the different nooks and crannies there are to explore. However, it's not for everyone.

you can definatly spend a whole day at epcot.first of all it is really 2 places in 1. we usually spend our day on the rides and then go to world showcase at night. you may wait for test track or mission space for a couple of hors alone! then there is the land the living seas spaceship earth, and shows to see. and at night dont forget about illuminations. between all the good food and great rides you definatly need a day at least for epcot.. dont forget soarin is comming soon too!

When we were at WDW in 2001, we actually split Epcot into two separate days. We did the "space" section first, which has some great rides - particularly Spaceship Earth and Test Track. And beginning in May, that's where Soarin' will be...so I'm looking forward to that. Then on another day, we did World Showcase. It didn't take us the entire day for the World Showcase, but we'd planned to go to one of the water parks after anyway.

Breaking it up worked for us. I think there is more to see and do than people tend to realize.

I agree with the other poster, check out everything that Epcot has to offer and then decide if you think you're going to need more or less time to spend there.

Oh my goodness! I cant imagine thinking there isnt much to do at epcot!!!!
There is a ton to do! :flower:
I think our family coudl almost spend a whole day in future world, then another day in world showcase!
Before our first trip to epcot, we were told by many people oh dont waste your time... the kids will hate it... its sooo boring! blah blah blah :confused3

I am sooo glad we did not listen to them! :goodvibes Our kids love epcot!
Of course we always do epcot before we do the MK, matter of fact, we usually do MK last so that the kids arent expecting the MK at the other parks.
Plus, in my opinion, misssion space is the best ride ever and i cannot wait to experience soarin!
The countries have a lot to offer even for the kids, and future world has tons I mean tons of hands on stuff for the wee ones!
Be sure to stop by ice station cool the kids will love sampling the different sodas from around the world! :drinking1

We planned to spend 1 day at MK and 1 day at Epcot on our recent no-kids vacation. We went to Epcot the first day and had a wonderful time visiting all the little places adn talked to a lot of nationals. We took a break at mid-day and came back for Illuminations. The second day we went to MK about 9am. By 10:30 we had done everything we really wanted to do, so we went back over to Epcot. It was more fun (to us)! I think we are trying to eat our way around the world, though. :cool1:

dh and i usually spend at least 2 days at epcot. it is our favorite park. :) there is a lot of good shopping ;) and there is a lot to just look at. it's a nice park to just relax in. :sunny:

For 2 adults I can easily see spending a whole day there.

Maybe I should review what my favorites are at each park(MK and Epcot) and see which we'd enjoy more... From what I recall Epcot has a lot of culture and science stuff....

This Aug DS13 & I are planning on (5) 1/2days at EpCot - (3) 1/2days at the other parks

We were only going to spend 1/2 a day at Epcot. Then I got some advice here and gave my kids a choice. They want to spend all day there, and I cant wait :)

Epcot is one of my favorite parks. Everyone has different tastes so I can understand why some people may not like it as much but I love both Future World & World Showcase. I can easily spend a full day in each one & expect to spend even more time in Epcot in April to enjoy all the Flower and Garden Festival offerings. This will be my first time for that & I'm really looking forward to it. :flower:

Even with our toddler we spent 4 half days at Epcot when we went in December. We only had 5 days to spend at WDW so we park-hopped a lot to get everything done. We spent the least amount of time at MGM, 3/4 of a day, but still did everything we wanted to do there, including all of the 'thrill' rides. I would probably pencil in a full day at Epcot then another evening for dinner and poking around WS some more.

But like everyone has said, if you're not interested in the countries at the WS or some of the displays and slower rides in FW, you can probably blow through MS, TT, SE, and Maelstrom in half a day max.

We will be in Disney for 7 days-our schedule is MK/MGM or AK in the morning then off to Epcot to eat and drink. Epcot is our favorite of all the parks; all the other get old after a half day but we never seem to get tired of Epcot. We are 2 adults and one 15 year old DS.

I do not think you could see all of Epoct in only one day.

I don't know, but last time we went we spent two days at Epcot and still didn't spend enough time there. At that time, my boys were 9 and 11 months. I'm planning on spending 2.5 to 3 days there this next trip.

There are so many moments that aren't planned at Epcot. You walk by a country and there are street performers playing outside, so you stand and watch for 30 minutes. It can happen at almost every country.
The shops are wonderful, you don't even have to have money to buy, just window shopping.
And, the food.......... :)
Future World has several interactive places along with the regular rides.

Yes, but you also have to remember the culture and science stuff is really really fun! You've got Mission: Space, Test Track which are thrill rides in itself, then the Living Seas and the new Turtle Talk with Crush is so funny. Spaceship Earth is a nice calming ride thru time. And if Soarin' is open by the time you go, there's another thrill ride.

Then the World Showcase is definitely a great place for adults. Between the food, the shows, and the drinks... boy you could spend a whole day just on that side of Epcot.

Plus, the fireworks is a definite must-see. You can get goosebumps just watching it.

Definitely not doable in a couple of hours. Heck it takes us repeat trips just to get it all in.
