So Confused About DxDP

We are planning a May 2016 trip and are planning to add DxDP to our trip. We are looking forward to trying some of the dinner shows and signature restaurants as well as SWW dining. How does the plan work when you make your ADRs? Will I be paying DOUBLE for these ADRs at the time of booking? If I've already paid for the DxDP do I still have to prepay for the meal? That seems crazy. If that's the case, should I wait until the week before vacation to add the DxDP? Help...please!

If you have already added the dining plan to your reservation you should not have to pay at all. You will be asked to give a credit card as a guarantee. If you don't want to do the prepayment on a dinner show, then you have to add the dining plan to your room reservation BEFORE you book the dinner show.

Signature restaurants are not prepaid except for CRT.

If you are talking about the special Star Wars meals, they are not prepaid either.

The dining plan is an alternate method of payment, and that's all it is. Unless you are booking CRT or a dinner show, it has no relevance to your restaurant choices at all at the stage where you are making reservations - only at the time you pay for the meal.
