So conflicted about upcoming cruise

My feelings on our 1/31 cruise change every day, sometimes every hour. I scheduled PCR tests for the family for this Saturday, my youngest was identified as a close contact on Friday and is currently symptom free.

I truly sympathize with everyone going through the same thing.

We're currently on the 1/31 cruise as well. We're just testing every week starting today and will time a PCR result to come back overnight to be available the morning we fly out (we've tested dozens of times for work purposes, so know the timing very well). I can handle testing positive before we fly out, everything we've booked is refundable. The positive at the port is unlikely because of when we'll time our PCR tests here and will lockdown the week leading up to the cruise so if we catch it while traveling, it won't show up positive by the time we cruise. Even with all this, still debating just moving it back.

Thanks! Some said it was a bit of a relief when the test came back because the stress was over and decision was made. But it's still really sad and so frustrating today! We'll have to figure something out. We also have a Wish cruise on the books for Oct so that might be it.

Just have some serious COVID fatigue. Hope it all works out for everyone that does try! And hopefully we'll get back to some "normalcy" soon where we can just relax when it's time to go on vacation. After all, that's what vacation is supposed to be for!

I know, right? This is tough.

We have a family cruise scheduled (on Another Cruise Line) out of Port Canaveral 2/20.

It's our last family event before DS21 enters active duty for pilot training, on March 8th. We have the trip insurance, but DS21 is increasingly concerned about the chance of catching Covid right before entering the Air Force. DS26 is flying down here, too, for this. Both are in Ohio--DH and my parents are here in Florida.

We're holding on tight to see what happens between now and then.

If he decides not to go on the cruise but the rest of us feel comfortable with it, perhaps we'll fly him down here a week early and do other things as a family. DH and I are both retired, so we can hang out, maybe visit the parks any time.

We cruised in November and loved being on the Dream which we were told holds 4500 people normally. We had only 1300 cruisers. We had a fantastic time and no crowds and waits etc. However, we did not have air flights to worry about when we traveled. Castaway Cay was GREAT with small crowds too. We had a cabana. Covid testing at the port was very well organized but there was less Omicron then too.

I am starting to lose sleep over our 1/22/22 cruise on the Fantasy. One day I am optimistic and determined that we will give it a shot......then the next day I question my sanity and just want to move or cancel it.

I have been looking forward to this cruise for a long time. This was my "goal" to get me through a rough spot and I would dream about this on the days I felt like crap. My treatment team is urging me not to go.....family and friends are urging us to rethink our plans......DH just wants to make a go for it and make the best of the situation.

I was just reading an article where RCL cancelled their upcoming Caribbean cruises. There is a part of me that wishes Disney would follow suit and then I wouldn't be faced with the decision.
Your treatment team discouraging you from going is different from friends and family. Doctors and nurses know the medical risks you are taking more than anyone. I just had to skip a dear friend’s son’s wedding because the size of the crowd and number of unvaccinated guests was a red flag to my doctor. It was disappointing, but better than winding up in the hospital. Also, part of the reason for RCL’s cancellations is that they are using certain ships (Vision, Rhapsody, Jewel) as floating hospitals for their sick crew.

I try to weigh the opinions of my treatment team.....however they also told me that I was ok to go on our March 2020 DW trip and cruise. I would think I was more at risk in March of 2020 when Covid was kicking off and we didn't know what type of monster I was battling (diagnosed with Leukemia in April 2020). Now I am vaxxed and boosted, my blood counts are stable, and my cancer count is undetectable. I have been on treatment since May of 2020 (targeted chemotherapy pill). So I am actually healthier now than I was in March of 2020.

I flip flop each day on this. Yesterday I wanted to reschedule or cancel. Today I want to risk it.

I think a lot of advice in March 2020 was sometimes based in not knowing what we now know, though.

Glad to see this post. My anxiety is high. Our cruise is 2/26. We really want to go, but currently in the 1st phase where we can only move it. I have several cruises booked, so I would have to push into 2023 so we would not be able to push our 10% out that far. Just this week granddaughter’s swim team had 2 positives. Once I get into the 14 day window we should know more. All my dvc room reservations are made and just today we got airfare for daughter, SIL, & 2 teen granddaughters….great price too…$49 each way. At least the airlines offer a good cancellation option. If we cancel, we’ll have 180 dvc points to use by March 31st. Ugh.

I go back and forth daily for our 1/31 cruise. I was hoping the cases would peak by this weekend but I don’t know. We took PCR lab tests on Sunday and they were negative but both of my boys are sick now. We did a rapid the next day for my symptomatic oldest and it was negative also. The school wants them to test again as my younger one wasn’t symptomatic until last night. Good luck finding a test….all of it is so frustrating!
