So Cali fires: Power out for a square mile around us.

Gale force winds power has been out for a solid 4 days.

We have solar/powerwall/Starlink and have made it available to the neighbors and we have appreciative users.

EV charger and our chest freezer available too.

Walking the dog at night homes with generators running and those with solar/powerwall homes lit. No streetlights, no cable, no fiber optic no power no cell service or deck phone.

Our Starlink accommodates up to 50 users at a time. Amazing fast and how it works but more amazing it works at all.

What a bummer. Is that fence anything special, or does it have something to do with power? Don't think I have ever seen a mesh fence like that. Hope your regular power is back on soon.

Probably made of non-flamable materials. You wouldn't want to have anything made out of wood in California.

That makes since. We have a PVC fence which would not be good there either. I suppose the mesh could be helpful in possible preventing some fire embers from approaching the yard/house.

As the wind blows, tumbleweeds come bouncing in and have to be busted up and tucked into the the trash containers so not ignite from embers.

Calif banning Gas trimmers meant we have to buy equipment out of state.
Battery powered doesn't cut it.

The last big fire that came thru did a number on those with the plastic split rail fencing. It did a number on wood split rail fencing just the same.
Sun just set and it's the hum of generators for what is now an easy 3 square mile area. Coyotes howling too.

I recommend the HF Predator 3500 generator for stand by for homes. Hondas are nice but way too expensive. Brutal cost for a standby unit.

It's a clean sine wave, protects the sensitive electronics that's in everything today.
$550 with a coupon. Really quiet. Seems expensive until you have to use it and it comes thru for you.
Change the oil & clean the spark arrestor every 100 hours, replace the spark plug every 500 hrs and it gives years of reliable service.
